I brought up Barker (and versteeg) with the contract debacle/offers and if you go back, not as DT's fault.

Look...I've always since day 1 said he was a good scout. But he was GM for what 4-5yrs where its said for 3-4 of them - he had others making decisions.

I realized they had to overpay, again...I always have said that - not just now. But they overpaid shit players, whoever's fault that is. he was wearing the GM's hat at the time and I dont think he should get a free pass or that should be forgotten.

No need to get pissy during a discussion about what he's done here. I never said it was all shit - I just dont hink it was all golden either nor do I think it's the end of the world.

my bad, it just irritates me he was treated like shit and didn't have to be. You pointed out all the bad, but under the circumstances of not only the organization but his job, not all of those were directly due to him, nor was he directly responsible.

He did take the heat for them though and publicly stated so many times.

IMO the best GM this organization has had in Decades and he was stabbed in the back and thrown out by an ego driven maniac that knows nothing about the game.

There is a reason he COMMANDS respect with in the NHL community. HE should command that from EVERY Hawk fan enjoying the team right now, last year, and in the coming future.

Touchy subject for me.
If they don't win the Cup, and have massive CAP problems you can look no further than Mcdonough with Huet, and all the RFA problems.
You always bring this up but have no physical proof. Why is McD the reason the contracts didn't go out? He's not the GM.
IMO, the proof is on the Hawks website.

http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=47737

In his most recent role as Assistant General Manager, Hockey Operations, Bowman attended to the day-to-day administration of the Blackhawks’ hockey operations department with his primary responsibilities including all CBA-related matters such as contract negotiations, free agency, salary arbitration, player movement and player assignment.

So the guy responsible(Per job description by the Hawks on their website) for the RFA debacle gets a promotion? Strange.

That's where the "capologist" comment came from the other day. Stan was promoted via the "coat tail" theory. And he doesn't tell Mcdonough NO.

Who did DT ever or exactly sign as a FA in his time as a GM here?

I have yet to see anyone DT has signed as a FA where the money/years were good. .
Also worth noting:

He gave Peter Bondra a chance to pot his 500th goal and it helped to beat the Maple Leafs at the UC, for basically a cup of coffee. Sure, the pts. and goals weren't really there anymore for Bondra, but it was still a worthwhile gamble in-season.

I was there for that game. It was a highlight to a several season drought of nothingness.

That game may have been sold out or at least close to it when there were games when you were lucky to see the stadium half full. The place rocked when he put it in.

I am having a graphics company make a 3' x 3' sign for me that I will be bringing to Sundays game.

Is anyone interested in joining me in this or shall I be the lone wolf?

I can just see McDouche sitting all smugly in his skybox watching the T.V. between whistles when they show a close-up of the sign. He'd spit his Perrier all over the place and frantically start making phone calls to Stadium security.

Well, in that regard..... the business that is making the sign for me asked if I wanted the Indian head on it. I actually said no due to the fact that they could actually confiscate my sign for trademark infringement (at least I believe so). I did not want to give them any reason as to why the could take it from me. Would be very ballsy if they did and I would glad become vocal about it.

If you get me into the game, during the 2nd intermission I'll even climb over the glass with the sign and run around on the ice with it above my head.

How could this not be a touchy subject for the long suffering Hawks fans.

Dale was doing a very decent job. Even pulling off some nice trades...Havlat being one,

but to have the organ"I"zation hurt themselves with cap issues...just to get rid of a man is beyond me.

http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/articles/2009/07/19/nothin_brewin/?page=2

How in the heck can Mcdouch consider himself a company person when he will literally hurt the club's future, just so he can make personnel changes?

Damn, if you don't like Dale, fire him and don't be a ***** and say it was because of a fiasco that was purposely created to save face.

This is down right bullshit!

Oh, just for those who forgot, this team is definitely behind Dale. Why else would they have all gotten together and been there for Dale when his father passed away?

Stan better use that freakin 8ball to fix this cap problem that he and Mcdouch created.

From TvVulture's article:

"Over, Dale

A number of reputable sources, including two general managers, said last week that it would have been Stan Bowman’s responsibility as assistant GM to mail out the qualifying offers to the Blackhawks’ free agents. Days after that process was bollixed - one source claiming that letters to the players got left in the mail room - Dale Tallon was fired as GM and replaced by Bowman (son of Hall of Famer Scotty Bowman). “Think about that,’’ said one GM. “Bowman screws it up, they fire Dale, and then they make [Bowman] the boss. Does that make any sense?’’ Meanwhile, Blackhawks president John McDonough last week refuted a note in this space in which a source conjectured that McDonough had a hand in the offers being delayed. McDonough last week to The Score 670 hosts Matt Spiegel and Barry Rozner: “Barry, I hid the stamps [laughter]. When you dignify something like that, it’s really embarrassing. Here is somebody, a writer for the Boston Globe . . . really, that is so fictitious that you couldn’t even make that up.’’ True enough, tough to make up. Later, ex-Hawks forward Martin Havlat unloaded on McDonough, commenting through respected TSN reporter Darren Dreger. “McDonough couldn’t stand that Dale was so successful and getting the credit for building the Hawks from a last-place team to making the conference finals in three short years. Remember, we were also the youngest team in the NHL last year,’’ said Havlat. “Every single player on the team is with Dale. I still talk to the guys all the time; hockey players know a phony when they see one.’’ The Blackhawks booted Tallon over to an advisory role and gave him a three-year deal. “Nothing more than hush money,’’ said one of the GMs."

The bolded part at the bottom speaks volumes.

So, if it is so apparent, why hasn't the Chicago media jumped on this? Why was it brushed under the rug? Does Mcdumbass really have that much pull with the Chicago outlets?

They did, and Josh Mora was fired and now works in Florida.

The "other" media could give a fucking shit and are on for the Bandwagon.

Guys like Rohn suck Mcdonoughs **** so why would they even contemplate shit like this? Guys like Jim Rose are just dumb fucks to begin with. That's the main stream media. Guys like Kuc and Sassone follow the team, so probably do a lot of biting their own lip instead of always typing what they are thinking for believe is true.

Klem you should post that over there in the Tallon thread so that maybe "Hawk Mod" might pull his head out of his fucking ass. At least until Adam see's and DELETES it as for fear Jackass or minions might read what's speculated on the truth.

I remember there was an incident but wasn't following closely... what exactly did Mora say/do again?

Well you gotta do what you gotta do to keep your job... pretty damn sad state of affairs that the media can't let everyone know what's really going on.
