Potential Lineup

Sorry I know that this is way premature, but I keep doing scribbly papers at my computer desk working potential lineup and was wanting others thoughts without reading every topic.

So does it look like?

Brouwer Toews Kane

Sharp Bolland Hossa

Stalberg ? ?

Bickell Reasoner Dowell

or does Sharp move into the second line centre role ala postseason 2010 and Bolland down to second line and Stalberg up to second line LW?

Do you think any of the Euro's will make the squad?

So many moves, this was much easier last year lol.

You know I was wondering that earlier today. At one point last year Bowman (Stan) specifically said he would be back and have a chance at the team this year. Whether anticipating the Cap crunch or not it will be interesting to see. I've really liked Makarov both times I've seen him on the ice. He might compliment Hossa well IMO.

Re: 2010-2011 Chicago Blackhawks Lines

Could we possibly see Marcus Kruger or Niklas Persson this year? I understand Kruger would be a long shot and pretty much everyone has said he needs at least another year, maybe two.

With prospect camp only just over a week away it will be interesting to see these guys. Do they have an invite list of prospects invited to the camp?

I thought I also read somewhere where Kruger was definitely playing one more year over there. Shredder maybe.

Persson signed with Tampa.

Even with the following 21-man roster, there would be $1.12M in cap space. I think this team is shaping up nicely. Looking forward to seeing how it gets rounded out.

FORWARDS

Troy Brouwer ($1.025m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m)

Tomas Kopecky ($1.200m) / Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)

Viktor Stalberg ($0.850m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Igor Makarov ($0.552m)

Bryan Bickell ($0.541m) / Jake Dowell ($0.525m) / Jack Skille ($0.600m)

DEFENSEMEN

Brent Seabrook ($3.500m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m)

Brian Campbell ($7.142m) / Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m)

Jordan Hendry* ($0.625m) / Ivan Vishnevskiy ($0.821m)

John Scott ($0.512m)

GOALTENDERS

Marty Turco ($1.300m) /Corey Crawford ($0.800m)

CARRY-OVER BONUS PENALTY: $4,157,753

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $59,400,000; CAP PAYROLL: $58,342,424; BONUSES: $65,000

CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $1,122,576

EDIT: *obviously, this assumes a number for Hendry that remains to be seen.

My lineup now that the roster has somewhat settled.

Kopecky-Toews-Hossa

- Looked good when together in the finals

Stålberg/Makarov-Sharp-Kane

- Allows two offensive lines, the LW is up in the air and will probably be more clearer after TC. Beach might get an appearance at some point during the season.

Brouwer-Bolland-Skille

- I think this is a good place for Skille and Brouwer. Size, skill and speed.

Bickell-Dowell-A cheap vet UFA/Klinkhammer?

- Should be a good gritty line. Hopefully it will be able to be a good PK unit too.

Seabrook-Keith

- Best pair in the league, nuff said

Campbell-Hjalmarsson

- If it ain't broke don't fix it

Hendry-Cheap vet UFA

- It looks like Hendry will be given a contract and Bowman's talk about adding a couple of D-men would mean one is probably penciled in as a 5/6 D-man

Scott

- The Goon, limited playing when needed

Turco-Crawford

- Obvious #1 and glad that Crawford will finally get a proper chance to show if he has it. Will probably play around 30-40 games.

Vishnevsky, Leddy, Lalonde could get some action as well. But knowing Q we will probably see all kinds of combinations during the season.

Heard on the radio yesterday that Q is the 4th coach to leave St. Louis and then go on to win the cup. That's gotta be tough to take if you're a Blues fan. Thank god we have Q as coach - he gets the most out of lines.

This is true and Bowman said that this was a possibility but said that it might do some good for him to see some time in the A too. I could see him coming in mid-season once bonuses can be written off.
No way is Makarov on the 3rd line. It will be brouwer IMO.
That may be right as a general matter, but with as often as Q shuffles lines, I suspect we'll see many different combinations over the season to get strategic matchups depending on the situation/opponent. I've only seen Makarov 2-3 times at prospects camp a few years back. What I remember was he had soft hands and wasn't afraid to hit. The reason I slated Brouwer on that top line was b/c I like mixing in that physical presence of a power forward on the top line and spreading the scoring panache over a few lines. Kopecky can certainly play that role on the top line. Maybe Makarov can too. Am excited to find out. But it's only August.
