2011/2012 Blackhawks General Player Discussion Thread

The power play on both units have sucked this year, so to constantly rip brunette when the whole thing as a whole has sucked all year. We have seen hardly no attempts to changes and the back door to sharp always seems to develop.

of course there is other elements that contribute to the lack luster performance on the PP. One of those elements is obvious and its a specific player. Brunette should not be on the PP. Should strategy change on the PP? of course, but along with that Brunette should not be on the PP. He needs to be replaced by someone who can actually screen a goalie with a tad bit more speed(not saying pavel bure speed) but something a bit more than what brunette provides.

sad that he is a 2 million dollar player.

I don't understand why people worry about the salaries of Blackhawks role players so much.

It'd be like me complaining about Scalabrine on the Bulls. It makes no sense.

It's sad Duncan Keith isn't in Norris Trophy form, that Crawford isn't a leading goaltender, that Frolik isn't potting his chances.

Brunette's role on the PP is not to screen the goalie. He's been known as a guy that works well behind the net, wins board battles, and sets up players in the slot from behind the net. That's what he was expected to bring to Chicago. For awhile, his unit was the only PP unit that was worth a damn. That's when he was skating with Kruger, Montador, Leddy and the fifth player escapes me right now.

Maybe a very small part. But he's awesome behind the net, particularly on the power play.
