Dave Bolland

After a concussion shelved the Blackhawks' Dave Bolland for the stretch drive, the now-healthy center is eager to hit the ice. Bolland's loss for the final quarter of last season was a blow to the Blackhawks. Not only was he productive with 15 goals in 61 games, but the pivot's energy and ability to grate upon the nerves of opponents was noticeably missing. Bolland did return during the postseason against Vancouver and was a major factor in Blackhawks' opening-round comeback in forcing a seventh game. Now, healthy and refreshed, Bolland could be in for a real nice season.

Marcus Kruger
is looking to earn a roster spot with Chicago this season. He appeared in seven games with the Blackhawks during the regular season and suited up in another five contests during the playoffs. Kruger said he learned a great deal about how he needs to play from those experiences and he wants to impress the team's brass in his first NHL training camp. He has offensive upside but potentially playing as a bottom-six forward won't make him much of a fantasy asset in 2011-12 should he remain in the big league. (Source: Chicago Sun-Times)

Viktor Stalberg
wants to play in Chicago's top-six forward group this year. "There are some spots in the top six and there are some spots in the bottom six," he said. "I'm going to do everything I can to take one of those (top spots). If I don't, I know I can go back and play that more physical game too. It's good for our team and good for my career that I can play a couple of different roles." Stalberg recorded 12 goals and 12 assists in 77 games last season with the Blackhawks. It will be tough for him to land a spot on of the top two lines, but he could get a shot if injuries occur. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Niklas Hjalmarsson
is hopeful that he can add more offensive production this season. "Maybe I'll try to make more stick-to-stick passes and not try to play it off the boards too much," he said. Hjalmarsson posted just 10 points in 80 games last season, so we wouldn't expect him to become an offensive force this year. He is a valuable contributor in terms blocked shots and his work in the defensive zone, but he isn't much of a fantasy asset. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

For my 1000th post I think I want to ***** more about my hockey playing experience here in Australia -- well, just one incident that pretty much summed up what I thought about it (it is also mildly entertaining).

Aside from my team - which had a habit of taking dumb penalties, necessitating penalty killing - the 4 guys on the ice, generally had no concept that they were actually supposed to kill time out there -and had no clue that you could ice the puck (or even were supposed to -to get really technical). They had no clue about playing the box, and actually some guys went so far as even after having been told the concept of the box -- while playing the pp team in scrimmage actually tried getting on my case for not chasing the jerk at the point with the puck around. -For the record I was content that he was running all over the place an afraid to shoot or pass ... which is generally what playing the penalty kill box is actually all about.) Yes, I did yell back at the guy that I was playing the F-ing box just like our team captain had explained, and invited him to actually listen to the guy, and maybe try practicing the concept as it was an actual hockey concept -outside my team's defacto norm of everyone (but 3 or 4 of us who actually had been coached -and knew what the hell a position was) chasing the puck like a frenetic collection of tumbleweeds in a tornado.

To cap it off, (and further confuse some of these guys), the one time someone actually did ice the puck on the penalty kill - the dingbat linesman actually did blow it dead (luckily the ref knew the kid screwed up the call - so the faceoff was at centre ice ...).

But -well.... yes- come to think of it -- that was like a Frustration Trip Flash Back :D

See Tbo -our goals are a little different - I just hope I post in the thread I had thought I was posting in (for some odd reason I thought I was posting this in the OT thread).

CCS is my hockey messageboard - it is just that there isn't anything going on at the moment much.

Ok, some assorted BlackHawk thing - man, I don't have any -saw Stalberg wanting to be in the top 6 - think he's dreaming - but I guess there is no harm in having aspirations.

Wait a minute... does Stalberg only play LW? Well, I know he doesn't do Center -- is he also a RW?

It makes a difference, as if he is only a LW - then Top 6, means something a little different - in that technically he could be 6th on the LW depth chart, and that is what he is aspiring to?

If he does RW/LW - then top 6 - I guess that puts him on any of the top 3 lines...

I wonder if he knows what he is saying, with relation to his position, when compared the the depth chart. :D
