Mediocre QB's like Cutler & Romo don't deserve these type of deals.

At least Flacco & Eli have SB wins on their resume.

Guys need to relax. The 126 million looks big because it is 7 years. Jay is never going to see the last two years of the deal. Furthermore, I suspect Stein has structured it in a way where the cap hit for Jay is actually going to be less than the 14 million it was this year. Here his how you can easily structure a 7 year 126 million deal with 54 million guaranteed assuming the guaranteed money is all signing bonus.

BS SB Cap Hits
3m 7.72m 10.72m
5m 7.72m 12.72m
7m 7.72m 14.72m
10m 7.72m 17.72m
11m 7.72m 18.72m
18m 7.72m 25.72m
18m 7.72m 25.72m
72m 54.0m 126.04m
While the contract is likely backloaded. Signing bonuses are only proratable over 5 yrs, so that $54M would equate to $10.8M/yr over the first 5 yrs

It's the northern part of Scotland, when looking at your upside down map of Britain.

I can.

Yes, the UK is in England. It's where I hail from.

Wouldn't make more sense the other way around since England is the the UK. That's like saying the United States is in Illinois. :dunno:

Every Bears fan lost today. Some are just too stupid to know it.

I dont understand how you trusted Trestman enough to potentially toss Cutler (who is probably ranked between #10-14 out of current NFL QB's) to the side and allow him to use his "quarterback whispering" abilities to draft the Bears QB of the future. You wanted to give this coach enough leeway to throw away a very good QB to develop an unknown prospect and have that unknown pull Chicago out of a lifetime of football obscurity at the quarterback position. You gave him enough credit to notice characteristics that he deemed important and a skill set that he thought he could work with to build a championship caliber team that could hang with the best the NFL has to offer.

So that decision has been made. Trestman decided after working with Cutler day in and day out for a year , scouring over hundereds of hours of video, understanding each of the play calls that went in to every second of that video footage, that he WAS the guy...Why do his QB whispering abilities not apply here? Do you really hate the guy that much that you would have trusted Trestman to select a rookie QB to plug in but his endorsement of Cutler is incorrect? Why do you and Spartan think you know better?

It seems that maybe you think you are too smart in this instance...

What the hell do they teach you in school?

It was a colony of the UK, until the ass whooping (one group of British people who had moved to the Americas whooping the ass of another group of British people who hadn't. With the help of the French).

Ideally, you look at both free agency and the draft, and depend on neither. We have alot of key players at or approaching their 30's, and if you expect to win a superbowl before guys like Marshall, Forte, Briggs, Jennings, and Cutler decline due to age then improvement will have to happen in the next couple of years. You can't expect a defense full of draft picks alone to be ready by then.
They will address players in FA but the draft will be the focal point. I don't know how many players you thought they were gonna pick up in FA. Probably only one or two players, I don't see them picking up more than that to begin with. Drafting though, If they draft right, those players can have a impact right away. I'm thinking they will probably draft nearly all defensive players. I don't think you can fix this team in one year but it can get turned around in a hurry.
