So the Hawks have:
USA:
Nick Schmaltz (Forward, UND, 2014 1st Round Pick)
Tyler Motte (Forward, UofMichigan, 2013 4th Round Pick)
John Hayden (Forward, Yale, 2013 3rd Round Pick)
Anthony Louis (Forward, Miami University Ohio, 2013 6th Round Pick)

Sweden:
Robin Norell (Defense, Djurgården, 2013 4th Round Pick)

Hawks don't have any other players representing their nations at the WJC, mainly due to the fact that they have drafted a lot of Americans who have gone the NCAA route the past 2 years and obviously, they didn't get picked for the USA team whether due to age or talent (Hawks have drafted a couple 19 year olds who have since not made the cutoff for birth dates).

Schmaltz is obviously our highest touted prospect in the tournament, but I've been keeping an eye on John Hayden, especially due to his size, physical play and skill.

I think even with those limitations the Hawks have the most (or are tied for most) drafted players appearing in the WJC out of all NHL teams.

Eichel seems like such a rah rah Tim Tebow turd.

Glad to see McDavid invisible tonight.

Today's Games:

Denmark vs. Sweden - 12:00PM
Slovakia vs. Finland - 3:00PM
Czech vs. Swiss - 4:00PM
Germany vs. Canada - 7:00PM

Need to hope Canada doesn't put up more than a 10 spot on Germany as goal differential plays part in the tie-breaking scenarios for seeding of the elimination rounds.

Really need to hope that Finland can beat or take Canada to OT on Monday. Otherwise Canada will most likely win the group.

Great first game though. I have no problem with over celebrating, that was a huge momentum game and a signal that we are here to win. I thought knocking off the team to beat and defending champions warranted how much they cared about it, clearly they set a goal to compete in that opener and they proved something to themselves and to the rest of WJC. Go hawks!! go U.S.A.!! love it.

What Blackhawks management have done in the salary cap era, and what they are prepared for the next 5 years....its insane. We are going to watch teams like the Bruins ebb and flow, Detroit and the Avs go full circle from contenders to doormats to contenders, and we will be competing for cups the entire time. L.A. slid some this year, or can't handle everyone gunning for the mantle. It appears to me that opponents still play the Hawks harder than anyone else because of the swag and names we arrive to the ice with. We are everyones favorite team to compete against and to hate too. We bring out the best in the rest of the league because of Blackhawk greatness.

Last year hurt, still hurting. Would love vengeance in 2015. Blackhawk down!!

Yea... I was more being sarcastic. Also peeved that such a good game had to end in a shootout as usual. ANNNNND I was rooting for Finland as I always do in international competitions.

That backhand/forehand move from the 2nd USA shooter was sick.

Still hate shootouts.

Too bad Husso had a nice anticipation save :)

ha, yeah the shot wasn't that dangerous to the goalie, but nice forcing his way in there, beating his man badly and I liked the skate he used to shield puck spur of the moment from the second defender that appeared. Showed me alot, including that the first defenders stick is worthless in defense.

Canada is gonna run the table on this thing.

Defense too big, offense too good.

Their lack of goaltending isn't going to bite them in the ass.

Americans need to put a good lickin' on the Germans tonight. Need to keep pace with Canada and their goal differential.

Russia raped the Swiss 7-0

USA is raping the Germans 4-0 after 2 periods.

Wowza, that's a whole lotta rapin' going on. Montreal really is a party city.

The boys looked good, but ever since 1944, we've had the Germans by the heiny, so no surprise.

USA vs Slovaks tomorrow... need to lay the smackdown on them and get that goal differential up.

All going to come down to NYE like usual.

Fatty Eichel needs to step the **** up.
