They brought up something on the broadcast. So, David Ross is probably going to start Sunday night. That really chaps my ass. Wainwright is difficult enough without giving him 2 auto outs in a lineup. Cubs better play small ball or hope Wainwright is off.

Or, .... you can pull out the jar of Vaseline, cuz there ain't nothing small about the Cubs Offense .... Just saying....... :dunno:

You'd rather give up defense for the booming bat of Castillo? Or did you expect Montero?

They brought Ross to catch Lester. Lester is pitching. No surprise.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
We know they brought Ross for Lester. It's like no one else on the Cubs can get free catcher's gear from All-Star or Rawlings. They are all gloveless, too.

Just a thought here... Ross plays maybe ever 6th day with Lester starting. That sure gives him a lot of time to work with Castillo on teaching him to frame better.

Im starting to think that more the reason why he here, Yea he here for Lester but i think he mainly here now to coach up Castillo.
especially since they haven't moved Castillo yet and dont even seem close to with Maddon talking him up now and saying he a kind of player you hold onto..

I think Ross is gonna spend more time on DL with mysterious injuries then he is active this year....

Castillo won't be a Cub come Mothers Day.

Sorry Brett, thought this was funny...

@ESPNChiSox: If Samardzija gives up 9 HRs in the spring and nobody was there to see it, did it really happen? pic.twitter.com/0cE2pL5ke7

What, Sox fans dont even show up in AZ for ST games either
So in 100% honesty I was looking at a box score the other day and saw the Sox were drawing like 7000 to the game. I was really impressed. Then I looked at the Cubs and it was something like 12-15K.

Calm down turbo. I dont care that Lester likes Ross. Montero and Castillo are a hell of a better hitters. Its also opening night. Your best players should be fielded as prestige. And, you want to set the tone for the season. Beat the Cardinals and Wainwright on a national televised broadcast and get the fucking rivalry started back up.

I see both sides of this one to be honest. Emotionally I'm with you 100% but empirically Ross makes Lester pitch better and I'm thinking, in a game played in 40 degree temps, pitching may be more important. You could make an argument for either.

I agree. In the end, this wont mean much to the season. I just always believed in the prestige of being opening day starter. Also, the Cubs have sucked since 2008. There is finally excitement in the air. I want nothing more then to kick the Cardinals ass. Have Rizzo throw a haymaker or two? Would be awesome.

@Cubs: Tonight's #Cubs lineup: Fowler CF, Soler RF, Rizzo 1B, Castro SS, La Stella 2B, Alcantara 3B, Ross C, Jackson P, Szczur LF. #LetsGo

Probable opening night lineup minus jackson

guessing its just to get a lefty between hammels and Hendrick to break them up...

After first couple times through rotation, doesn't really matter where you started

Maddon still hasn't told the catchers who's starting Sunday so won't announce publicly yet but he did say Ross is not JL personal catcher
6:59 PM - 3 Apr 2015

If Ross supposedly not on this team to be Lester personal, then he shouldn't be on this team...

Much rather have Castillo back up and start the 20-30 games that they rest Montero. .
