Seems Curry is out for basically the rest of the regular season after last night's injury. Some type of toe injury

And they're a deep team. And Taylor Jenkins is probably your COY.No Ja
Irving has 43
Durant has 35
Grizzlies win by 12
Everyone keeps saying they aren’t title contenders…but, y’all might wanna wake up to it
If he isn’t, there’s just a bunch of haters voting. And they're a deep team. And Taylor Jenkins is probably your COY.
I don't know if they'll take that big step right now, but I would love to see Ja vs. Holiday in a 7 game series. If he isn’t, there’s just a bunch of haters voting.
The suns are the only team that stops the grizz potentially IMO
I don’t know for sure either. All I’ll say, is I ain’t doubting em. I don’t see any TEAMS better. Sure, there’s rosters that have KD and Kyrie and stuff, but we saw what the grizz did to KD and Kyrie last night and that was without JaI don't know if they'll take that big step right now, but I would love to see Ja vs. Holiday in a 7 game series.
Dang how cheap are Grizz tix that you get to sit so darn close every game?
They ain’t cheap, unfortunately. Especially with them doing so wellDang how cheap are Grizz tix that you get to sit so darn close every game?
They are balling. There defense is smothering and the offense once stagnant is playing like a fined tune machine. Tatum has been on the cusp of that Superstar level. See if he can get them thereThe Celtics went from being 24-24 and looked like a team that was going to get bounced in the 1st round to 47-28 and now look like the favorites to come out of the East.

I know this post is two days old, but looking at bball-reference, 4 teams are Top 10 in O & D right now..So right now, there’s 3 teams top 10 in offensive and defensive efficiency rating if I’m not mistaken. They are…
Phoenix
Memphis
Minnesota
so, I guess those are your 3 title contenders right now
I guess 538's algorithm indeed had something. The Celtics went from being 24-24 and looked like a team that was going to get bounced in the 1st round to 47-28 and now look like the favorites to come out of the East.
Yeah, two days ago Utah wasn’t top 10 in defense and Boston wasn’t top 10 in offense. And minnesota was fringe top 10.I know this post is two days old, but looking at bball-reference, 4 teams are Top 10 in O & D right now..
Utah is 1st in O, 10th in D
Phoenix is 2nd in O, 3rd in D
Memphis is 5th in O, 5th in D
Boston is 8th in O, 1st in D
Phoenix and Memphis are most balanced teams.
I'd argue though anyone with a superstar is still a title contender, because these top 10 teams do lose in the playoffs, usually as a result of lacking a superstar.
So I'd argue, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Golden State (assuming Curry returns) are still contenders as well as these 4 teams above. If someone wants to make a case for Brooklyn simply because of Durant, be my guest, but their so far down in the standings, I have trouble believing they could contend.

I was merely pointing the current list out, since you and others here tend to feel the only contenders are the ones that are top 10 in both. I believe it’s you that makes the claim that no teams outside of the top 10 in both ever win the championship(extremely rare when one isnt and wins it all)
The whole Memphis almost never losing without Ja, doesn’t mean they are better without him(as I’m sure you know). We all know the playoffs are a different beast than the regular season, and having stars/guys that can do things few can, is massively important to success in the playoffs. That’s why Ja makes them betterYep, every champion (since the ABA merger anyways) was Top 10 in at least one category. Only 10 out of the last 45 champions have been outside the Top 10 in one of the categories, with the 2020 Lakers being the last one (11th in O, 3rd in D). Only 3 NBA Champions have had a rank outside the Top 10 and beaten a team in the Finals ranked Top 10 in both (04 Pistons, 90 Pistons, and 79 Sonics). The other 7 instances were when both Finalists had a rank outside the Top 10.
Nearly every season has multiple teams ranked Top 10 in both (though the Eastern Conference has had several years devoid of any team ranked Top 10 in both), obviously only one can win a championship, but often those teams do get beat by a team with ranks outside the Top 10, just about every time that team contains a superstar. I think the 2004 and 2005 Pistons may be the only team to beat a team ranked Top 10 in both in the playoffs and not have a superstar (They beat the Shaq/Wade Heat in 05, and the Pacers [who also had no superstars] in 2004)
LeBron's Cavs teams were notoriously bad at defense, except the one year they won the title. They beat a few top 10 teams in their playoff runs.
Given the way things are shaping out this year, I won't be surprised if we had a Finals with teams outside the Top 10 in one category.
Memphis is interesting because they have all the numbers, and Ja has emerged as a likely superstar. For me to actually qualify him, he'll need a second year of similar numbers to this one, but for arguments sake, lets just say he is one right now. But Memphis is young and inexperienced. They also do this weird thing where they seem to win all their games without Ja... so I'm just not really sure how to judge them. I wouldn't be surprised if it were like a 2010-11 Bulls run where they just get beat in the WCF.. or even the 2nd if playing a team like the Warriors.
The 2010-11 Bulls team was 36-5 at home and 26-15 on the road. Obviously slanted towards the home, but in the playoffs they did lose a HCA series in the ECF. That Bulls team was also rated outside the Top 10 in O, and lost to a team ranked Top 10 in both. So a bit of a different comparison. The whole Memphis almost never losing without Ja, doesn’t mean they are better without him(as I’m sure you know). We all know the playoffs are a different beast than the regular season, and having stars/guys that can do things few can, is massively important to success in the playoffs. Memphis playing so well in the regular season without him, only bodes well for their chances in the playoffs IMO. The fact that guys like Jackson, Bane, Jones, Melton, and Brooks all seem to step up in his absence should translate well for them in the playoffs.
the one thing that gives me pause with them is their youth. They would be the youngest team to ever make the finals. That’s crazy young when you think of teams like the thunder with Durant, Westbrook, and harden made the finals that one year.
that said, you look at their record and they are 27-10 at home and 25-13 on the road. Doesn’t sound like your typical super young NBA team with that home/road split. Very few NBA teams are basically just as good on he road as at home, and the ones that are usually are veteran laden
I just look forward to the ? being forced to see Memphis on National TV during the Finals and driving rami nuts lol
