Not sure why this is relevant to the Grizzlies suspending him?
Because it’s kind of rare/odd when an athlete gets suspended and hasn’t broken any laws.

Happens all the time.
Not really.

Either way, it’s odd to get suspended when you’ve done nothing “wrong.” That said, being suspended from team activities right now doesn’t mean a whole hell of a lot

I'm confused, how many suspensions in recent memory occurred due to breaking a law? Players can get suspended for lots of reasons that have nothing to do with laws

Looking through the list, there’s the suspensions for reaching 16 technical fouls that isn’t breaking any law of course

Aside from that, I see a lot of on court altercations that would be classified as assault if the victims wanted to press such charges.

But I guess you’re technically right since the victims did not press charges. But reality is anytime someone physically attacks you, that is assault

Kyrie was suspended for the Jewish stuff. That wasn't technically illegal.

There have been many players that have been suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team." That's kind of what this gets bucketed in.

Maybe Embiid deserved the MVP, but to go into a Game 7 and get your shit pushed in by a what 38 year old Al Horford is not a good look.

10 points in the third for Sixers. Tatum has 17 in the 3rd by himself. Put on an absolute show today.

This is probably an unpopular opinion... But, even though Embiid is a great player, I can't help but feel like he whined his way to an MVP. Watching the media this past season, they were looking for reasons NOT to vote for Jokic and Giannis, while making up (stupid) arguments to convince people why Embiid should win. So, I think him whining about it worked to some degree.. Especially when you have guys like Jokic and Giannis basically saying they don't care about winning it again, and Embiid is talking about how important it would be to him.

Meyers Leonard for his one comment.

Many players are suspended for taking substances that aren't illegal, but are banned by the NBA itself.

Players have been suspended by teams for skipping practices and other things.

So lets not act like you have to do something illegal per the law to get suspended.

The NBA can suspend anyone for any reason it wants to as an organization. Of course the players can fight back on a lot of it. But league can't just say you're being detrimental to the league and that's all that's required.

Nobody said you HAVE to do something illegal to get suspended

So let’s not act like what someone said is different from what they ACTUALLY said

Also, I’m assuming that’s a typo in your last sentence?

Is it against NBA policy to own a gun?
Is it against NBA policy to go on IG live with a gun?

I’m not saying what he did was smart, I just don’t see where he did anything suspension worthy in that video

Its not, ots what he did and the writers do not like MVPs back to back or to back. Itas hilarious to me Mark Jackson was interviewed for the Bucks job and Jokic wasnt in his top 5.

Also, this happened to Jordan with Olajuwan. He is a top 15 player of all time but Jordan took that personal. Embiid should dominate any center in this league with his size and skill. He just got broke by 36 year old Al Horford. Meanwhile, Jokic is dropping triple doubles. Its wild and then his tak after. Wild shit

That's up to the NBA to decide. Conduct Detrimental to the League clause is part of the NBA Constitution and Bylaws. So if they view this as that, they can make their case and suspend him.

We'll see what happens. Most of the internet seems to think he's getting a 40 game suspension, but I'm not buying that.

Embiid is a superstar, but hasn't exactly shown him to be a post-season superstar.

The media was looking for reasons to not vote for Jokic, but Jokic's play after the Bulls beat them basically gave them the reason they were looking for vs anything Embiid was doing.

Mark Jackson, while an idiot, had a defense for why Jokic wasn't in his top 5. His defense also shows how much of an idiot he is. He thought he was voting for All-NBA on his MVP ballot. Hence why it's very positional too.As stupid as it is, the explanation actually makes sense for Jackson.

Also more reasons why he shouldn't be an NBA coach again...or on TV.

Was definitely Malone in 97.

Olajuwon won MVP in 93-94, but Jordan was retired and had no reason to take it personal that year.

Just some interesting stats/facts on Embiid:

Only MVP in NBA history to never make a conference finals…although he obviously has time to change that

His 9.4 ppg decrease from regular season to the post season is the biggest drop off in an MVP season in the history of the NBA

Really good article. Brings up a lot of what I was getting at regarding how differently people are reacting to Ja’s situation vs similar situations from “other types” of Americans
