Agreed.

Last week I saw a power ranking and LAD, San Diego, Texas and Arizona were all ranked highly and the Cubs played them all, and except for those early games in Japan, have not lost a series.

Offense is raking. Pitching will be tested, but they have some depth and I expect they'll pursue a starter.

Would be nice if Matt Shaw could hit a little. Rest of offense is carrying him but he’s better than this.

He will be ok. Leg kick has been a concern for people since minors. He has an advance approach at the plate. knows the zone well. I would also expect PCA to start coming around. Swinging a heavier bat and has missed FB's all year. Not today.

With injury in mind I doubt anyone in Iowa will be available. AA and lower yes.

Ideally Jed keeps it the same until Horton is up to 5-6 innings per then makes a switch

I was more concerned with Suzuki and Kelly both missing time. You do not want to make Ballestros available because he fits into both roles. Tuck moves on Caissie becomes untouchable. The list goes on.

Jed has depth and that should be utilized first.

Four consecutive Padres have reached without a single well hit ball.

The ballzy move would to promote Neely and Wicks and demote Morgan and Pearson.

Get Assad healthy enough to pitch 2 inning stints.

Then mid May overhaul the staff.

SP (based off of current rotation order)
Shota
Boyd
Brown
Horton
Taillon

2 inning arms:
Rea
Wicks
Assad

High leverage 1 inning
Merryweather
Roberts
Hodge

Lefty
Theibar

Closer
Pressly

Neely rotating in as needed unless he starts to dominate.

Cubs need out getters. Playing the OMG we will lose a shitty pitcher bull crap is done. Let another team deal with that.

Right-hander Chris Flexen made his third start of the season and twice in this series as he had a stellar outing on the day before Jordan Wicks came in for the next three innings and earned his first career save.

Flexen earned his first quality start of the year going 6.0 innings, allowing three hits on no runs and struck out four in the process. He also retired the first 11 batters that he faced to cap off the stellar outing.

So that could be a option in Iowa. I feel better with Rea in the pen. I want a bridge more than a 5th day filler at this point. Wicks is being pushing into a multi inning guy as we speak.

Flexen as a gap filler is fine as long as he can keep a 4.50 era or lower. With this O that means wins

Shaw to Iowa. Guessing Workman will get some love in a platoon. Both players have been limited. Brujan can cover a few spots so a solid flex guy

The pitching being brought up really did not push my tickle me pink button. I guess they could be good?....

PCA was worse in his first stint. So it is not a huge deal. Give him some time to make adjustments outside of a play off team environment
