The thing that's wonderful about the Blackhawks is we have the best core of players in the game. Offensively, they're obviously led by Toews and Kane, both of whom will be Blackhawks for the next 10 years. They also have maintained a quality group of prospects in the minors.

With the winning tradition the Blackhawks have established, the prospects watch their professional counterparts hoisting the Cup thinking "that could be me." Every year the roster changes, and expendable role-players are swapped out for prospects. While I like the idea of moving up to the position we got our young leaders from in the draft, we don't really need to. Keep the motivated young guys coming into the roles we need while keeping our best players where they are. That's how champions get to think. Eventually, we'll be freaking out trying to replace our captain and 10-time Conn Smythe winner, but that's nine seasons away.

Teravainen scored two goals in Jokerit's 2-4 loss today (highlights below - TT's goals start around 3:00 mark). A couple nice snipes - quick.

With those goals he extends his scoring streak to 13 games - all the games since the WJC. He how has 8 goals and 32 assists. His 40 points are 7th in the league and his 32 assists is 3rd best. He is now wearing an "A" which is remarkable since he is only 19 and almost all of his team mates are at least 5 years older than him with most of them being mid to late 20's and early 30's.

can you imagine if we struck Finnish gold with TT? I mean if we could transition from Hossa's contract to his but have them together for about 3-4 years the championships are endless. I don't know that we could retain another superstar, probably not, but for a couple years we may be prone only to injury.

Yeah, it is fun to think about. There's no guarantee that TT will be able to play in the NHL, let alone well enough to play the 2C position - sm-liiga ain't the NHL by a long shot - but if he can he will give the Hawks 6 bonafide top-6 star players with considering Saad one of the top-6 players. If Bickell can just get back to playing at the level he did in the 2012/13 regular season, he, along with Shaw and Versteeg would give the Hawks a top notch 3rd line. Kruger is a fixture at 4C and his wingers can stay as is if Smith and Bollig resign or there are ample candidates to fille those roles in Rockford.

Plus, the season Kevin Hayes is having at BC puts him into the conversation. I know, I know that often times NCAA success is fools gold when it comes to transitioning that success to the NHL, and I know a lot of the stats he's put up have been playing with the soon to be Hobey Baker wnner - Johnny Hockey (Gaudreau), but he is having a monster senior season and, at least in my mind, looks like he just might have what it takes to be a good NHL'er. His skating is the biggest question mark, although I have read critiques from BC fans that say he is a better skater than his brother Jimmy - so we'll see. He's been playing RW for the past few months after playing center most of his career so I'm not sure what the Hawks will want him to play.

Wishful thinking 2014/15 lineup:
Sharp-Toews-Kane
Saad-Teravainen-Hossa
Bickell-K.Hayes-Versteeg
Nordstrom-Kruger-Shaw

Keith-Seabrook
Oduya-Hjalmarsson
Leddy-Rozsival/Dahlbeck

Crawford
Raanta

I've also heard tons of good things about Kevin Hayes, frequently referring to him being a better prospect Jimmy. Think he may need a year of seasoning in the AHL just for good measure, though.

I also think Oduya will be moved this offseason to make room for Leddy to jump up to the 2nd D pairing, with Stephen Johns getting a long, long look at potentially being the new addition to the 3rd D pairing.
