Carcillo plays 7-10min a game. Sometimes he's out there with Toews/Hossa...sometimes on the 4th line. He brings a skill set...he forechecks well...he's very physical

He's a character guy. He does what it takes for the TEAM to win. The players love him. The coaches love him.

...most of the time.

Hes not playing with toews and hossa. you guys are over reacting to a few shifts and suggesting he is penciled in on that line before the games even start. You see him play a couple shifts on that line and all hell breaks lose as if Q is trying to sabotage the team. I like that Q juggles his lines off and on and puts a new look out there some shifts. Its not easy to play against. Ask the other team.

hey and guess what? Saad isn't winning the rookie of the year. Hes not as great as everyone keeps pumping him up here. Hes def a good young player and he does some great things out there but hes not exactly making heads turn around the league. As a Hawks fan we see the little things he does right and we celebrate them..that's fine. But no one ever questions the things Saad does that are wrong or where he could be better because we like to think him playing with Hossa and Toews would help him put up numbers. Hes not putting up numbers. Hes doing things really well on the defensive end. So does Carcillo. He doesn't throw his body around enough..Carcillo does (maybe if the guy on the RW threw his body around more Carcillo would never be seen there?). THat's not a crack at Hossa ..its just not part of Hossas game and you can't be dropping Hossa off that line even though games like today he probably should have been. Both Carcillo and Saad bring different things to that line and I think Q does a good job at determining when each should be used. And fear not..it's Saad seeing more ice than Carcillo so simmer down.

Also there is nothing wrong with Saad getting 4th line minutes and getting a look on different lines and with different players either. Its not going to damage him or damage the team. Its actually good for him and he will learn more about the game and the team system doing so. Never bought into the idea that Saad has to play top minutes or he should be on the farm. To me that's 1990's NHL hockey mentality. Different league and game now young players can play the NHL with limited minutes and it's better for them than playing in the AHL. You have to learn the team system and they don't teach that on the farm.

Blasphemy.

NEVER!!!!

I remember a game where Eager was playing for the Sharks and completely lost it, taking two or three really, really, really stupid penalties in a row. I believe it was a playoff game, too.

...regardless, Eager's stock has faded alarmingly fast since leaving the Hawks.

Sounds like he was just fulfilling his playoff duty as a member of the Sharks.

Big Ben will always have a place as a Hawk who was on the Cup Winning team in 2010. I liked him when he was here and I loved that 4th line and thought he was a big part of it. He def seems like a different player now as Mikita said. I think that speaks of the differences btw the Hawks as an org and its core leadership wich is still here and the Sharts and their core leadership. The Hawks core and leadership in 2010 had as much to do with Eagers success ad Eager himself did. I think it's the same core and leadership on this team that can get the best out of a guy like Carcillo. Carcillo hasn't looked at all like that crazy ass nut job that played with the Flyers. He has had his moments but nothing compared to his Flyer days.

I think people overlook the team dynamic sometimes and how it influences a player like the Eagers and Carcillos and just look at the past history of said individual players. Hawks seem like the right team to simmer Carcillo..the Flyers were certainly not and probably made him a bigger dick than he actually is.

Anyways I don't really understand anyone complaining right now about any player unless it comes from a deep down personal hatred for that individual (which i understand through my experience when Gilmour played for the Hawks). Im still waiting to get a clip of Craws save of the year but everyone is afraid to post one on youtube incase the world implodes.

When you're costing your team a game, which he did, because of completely undisciplined selfish retaliatory penalties, it's not fulfilling you your duty.

God dammite TCD, what the hell is with all these sensible posts? This is bullshit, don't you know that this is no place for such rational observations? Carcillo sucks, EAGER RULES!!!!

That said, good post. My initial thoughts were Carcillo would be completely corralled by the leadership and depth of our leadership for that matter. He has been a far different player than his Yotes and Flyer days, same goes for Eager when he has been elsewhere. I am not a fan of his, but he can become useful. I hope his game grows from being here and that happens. He will be useful in a bench clearing brawl that spills into the stands, and streets, come time our next appearance in Vancouver.

But OMG he won his only career NHL fight against Bieksa!!!!!!!!!!

That was one of the best nights ever at the United Center. Even though we lost. I don't think I've seen anything that FUNNY in the 15 years I've been sitting in that building watching hockey....!!

HAHA FOREARM SHIVY!!

Eager punched Bieska so hard in the mouth it knocked his mouth guard off with his front teeth still stuck in it! The linesman put it on the dasher in front of the P Box. Buff on his way into said P Box looks down and see's Bieska's teeth still in his mouth guard. Looks over to Bieska, points to the mouth guard, and too his own teeth (Buffs) and laughs at Bieska.

After the game Buff, "Yea it was funny his teeth were still stuck in his mouth piece"... hahahaha
