Not a bad beer, I was just curious as to more of the crafts etc. out there.

Thanks for the input men.

Tried that, didn't like it. Also tried Summer Shandy from Leinkugels, didn't like that either.

Oh Fisch, you're taking me on a trip down memory lane.

I think I have seen Victory and Capital out here...may give them a shot.

I have become a big fan of New Belgium...I like getting their variety pack to try a bunch of different flavors. Other than that I usually stay stocked on a bunch of the local breweries here in VA

I have yet to have a beer from either one of those two that I haven't liked.

Good suggestions. I like Victory's Hop Devil. Their Golden Monkey is ok too if you like tripels...but I would say just "ok". Nowhere near La Fin Du Monde as an example. But this is probably not shit fisch should be testing out :)

To add a serious comment to this thread, Sierra Nevada Summerfest Lager. Pretty subtle, but it might still be too much for you fisch.

I'm with you on Blue Moon. Not really a fan of it, but generally I'm not a huge what beer/hefe drinker.

Summer Shandy I can do but only for one.

Anyone looking for a TRUE lemonade shandy(50/50 mix), try Potosi Brewing Company's Shandy. It's REALLY sweet but as true Shandy's go it's one of the better I've had. Leine's Shandy is kind of the Arnold Palmer of Shandy's. It's for Hefe/wheat drinkers wanting something with some more sweet(75:25 beer:lemonade)

Haven't had the Hop Devil yet, but I'm not a huge IPA/Hop guy. Hate that "dry" finish. I'll look into the Sierra Nevada Summerfest Lager. Haven't had anything from SN in years.

Just looked up the Hop Devil as I was typing this..only 50 IBU's..that's not bad. My IBU limit is typically somewhere around 60-70 before I need the IPA/Hops to have a good citrus in the background to help smooth out the finish.

Other recent beers I've had that are worth a shot(ie really good) and a good transition away from piss water(Bud Light etc)

Deschutes Brewery: Twilight Summer Ale

Ska Brewery: Mexican Logger

Capital Brewery: Lake House

Victory Brewery: Prima Pils

Great Lakes Brewing Co: Rally Drum Red Ale
Had that in Portland (even though I know you can get it here) It was pretty good. Deschutes has quite a few good beers... the better ones, are only available out on the coast though.

Have you tried Cigar City Jai Alai? It's 70 IBU but has that citrus you're looking for in a IPA. It's my favorite beer probably right now.

My first beer was memorable because it was a red eye with Black Label (the beer, not the whisky).

I don't want to spend money on bad beer

You live in America. Do you somehow think you're going to be exempt from this rule?

If it's about the money, do like the homies, buy that 40 of Old E and see ya next tuesday.

I am not really a hop head either. I like IPAs every now and then but I cant drink several in a row. However, I recently brewed an awesome one. It is 90IBUs but very citrusy (sp?). It use a ton of Citra hops and has a serious dry hop schedule. It was a major hit at the local homebrewer night and with the employees of my local homebrew store. I can pass out the recipe to anyone that might be interested in brewing it.

IBU doesn't really mean much. I've had bitter 50 IBU beers and 80 IBU beers where the malt stood out. It's really a bad way to market the hoppiness of a beer.

True. It is an important piece of information though. To really know what to expect, you would want to know the grain bill, mash temp, hop variety and schedule, yeast strain, etc... Its this whole IPA craze that (hopefully it will blow over soon. I think sours are next) started the intense reporting of the IBU.
