They Signed Flacco for that
Never saw that. Is it as bad as it looks?
The other thing to note with Lance vs Jones is that Jones beats teams with his arm rather than his legs. Lance does a lot of one read and then tuck and scramble (which he had a lot of success with in college, but that style doesn't translate well to the NFL as a day 1 starter).
Or Lance, which doesn't make it any better. Its hard to argue that SF didn't make a huge blunder here.
You just traded 3 first round picks for Justin Fields or Mac Jones, both of which have flaws in their game.
Maybe that's a trade you make on draft day when you know your guy is available, or a trade you at least wait a few picks on to see if he falls. But to give all that up a month before the draft when you can't even be certain the guy you want is available?
Guess who made more 1-read throws between Lance and Jones? Guess who made more tight window throws between the two? And that style translated fine for Kyler Murray and Cam Newton.
Level of competition matters. Jones got more experience going against Alabama's backups in practice.....
How much did it matter between Wyoming's Josh Allen and UCLA's Josh Rosen?
For now, anyway...That is such a massive haul for the Dolphins, who already have a shit ton of draft capital.
That said they are betting it all on Tua evidently.
Dude, we get it.... you like the guy. No need to keep defending it. All I'm saying is you can't deny that Jones is more experienced. You play better players in his case and you practice against betters players. Doesn't mean Lance won't end up better..... but for NOW...... Jones is more experienced.
Well, to be fair, 17 starts against SEC comp vs 17 against Missouri Valley Conference clearly is not apples to apples.#whiteprivilege
They literally have the same experience (number of starts). LOL. You can't weigh experience vs level of competition, because that's subjective. Like you wouldn't say Trubisky is more experienced than Carson Wentz because he had 12 starts in a power 5 vs. 2+ years starting at FCS.
The point isn't to defend Lance, it's to call out BS and false narratives. I have actually defended Jones from people who knock him for playing with too much talent. Lance played with just as much talent, comparatively in the FCS.
Regardless the shade of skin of those we are comparing. TBH, Trey may end up crushing it in the league, and I personally hope he does, but the disparity of his small sample size vs the small sample size of M. Jones' is is immense, and honestly hard to dismiss.Well, to be fair, 17 starts against SEC comp vs 17 against Missouri Valley Conference clearly is not apples to apples.
