We’ve got five first-round-caliber receivers on this offense, all young. Add to that one of the most proven, innovative offensive minds in the league as our head coach. If this offense doesn’t take off next season, the issue should be pretty clear.

O line is significantly upgraded so no excuses there unless multiple injuries.
Johnson was broken last year from injuries, Thuney is old and we're either playing Jones who's injured or Wright in a new position at LT.

The OL is more paper mache than bulletproof.

I agree that on paper it is significantly upgraded. I'd also say though that we've said similar things over the last few offseasons only to have injuries pop up in training camp and it be an early season preview of oline injuries.

Hopefully this staff is better at coaching up the backups or scheming to hide weak areas in the oline should injuries pop up.

Thuney was arguably the top guard in football last year. Hes got a few years left before he falls off imo.
Not trying to question his talent but once you hit the mid 30s you're playing with fire relying on players.

Kind of made me upset that Detroit took Tate Ratledge a pick after the Trapilo pick.

I like ratledge too. Bears were in need of another OT though and trapilo is a good player. We’ll see how it plays out.

Maybe Ratledge blows out his knee and can never play again, and Trapilo is a 15 year Hall of Famer.

The issue would be clear, we are officially cursed and can safely give up.

Johnson was broken last year from injuries,

I’m pretty sure you mean Jackson and you might want to read about what actually happened. Thuney is a stud. Based on his performance last year, it seems like there is ample tread on the tires.

We’ll see how it works out at OT.

33 year old players are high risk to fall off a cliff.

Steve Hutchinson wasn't the same at 33, Zach Martin is 34 and just retired, Marshall Yanda played 2 games at age 33, Dimitri Dawson fell apart at 34 - it's just super rare for dudes to be good into their mid 30s.

The OL has been fine in theory every year here but year in and year out shit hits the fan and the plan that Poles has drummed up has fallen apart and the team has sucked. He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt on this.

Bears should be thinking about Thuney’s replacement next year.
