What formula?

Big contracts to players and not enough players who can drive in players and get on base. I think the Cubs organization is more concerned with power than it is hitting and defense.

I am just sick of teams using the same formula when it obviously doesn't work.

Hendry gave the Cubs a chance to win the WS in 07 and 08. We fell flat on our faces but those were good teams. Were paying for it now but Hendry did put together sone great teams.

Yeah the only reason 2003 sucks is because we made it so close to the WS.

2004 we were better and 2008 was by far the best team we have had.

You can say what you want about JH, but the bottom line is he did build a team to win. Did he spend too much? Maybe, but if he doesnt give Soriano 8 billion dollars we dont have 2007 and 2008. If he doesn't give Derrek Lee a big contract we don't have those years. Same with Ramirez. The Cubs were not built to be a dynasty the Cubs were built to win from 2007 to 2009. They had a three year window basically, and unfortunately we didn't get the ultimate prize, but make no mistake about it in 2008 we were if not the best team in baseball we were right there.

The team is more set up now for a longer run than those teams, but no matter what happens with JH I will thank him forever for those 2007 and 2008 teams and that 2004 team as well. I think the team will be better off where he leaves it than where it was when he got here.

Considering the Cubs success was basically on the shoulders of Sosa before JH got there there is no doubt the organization has been improved.

Last year Soto had a higher OPS, wOBA and slugging than Mauer. I'm not saying he's better but you can argue it, which is I why I said ARGUABLY!
