I like this quote:

No one takes over managing a team because the previous guy left it ready to start planning a Stanley Cup parade. Or at least rarely does that happen, and this is certainly not one of those situations.

Happy for Bergevin, sad for the exodus trend, happy not to have seen McShady's name in any article I've read about this.

quote: As if the success on the ice isn't enough, due credit should be given to guys like Stan Bowman and John McDonough for their ability to help their people advance their careers. Surely, Cheveldayoff and Bergevin deserve kudos for the hard work they've put in, but the Blackhawks have helped them along the way.

Let's not try and spin this into more than it really is. Whatever you guys want to blame on McDonough is fine, but the guy was offered to be the GM of his home town team. It doesn't matter if McDonough was with the Hawks or not, he's going to take that job no matter what.

No one will argue that point.

The point being made is that Tweeter Dee and Tweeter Dumb had nothing to so with Bergevin's development.

I would argue Dudley was the most costly. He has two Stanley Cups to his credit. Although not sure Mcdonough added his name to the Cup, but he was a primary contributor to both Tampa and Chicago.

No, but Dale Tallon certainly did. Another of the Stanley Cup architechs gone. Nice to see him give Tallon the credit he deserves in his presser.

I'm interested in who he choses to coach. Honestly Savard would be a great choice but is he too busy kissing ass is the question.

Today, this organization took another step forward in becoming a corporate puppet. Can't name one guy in the front office that has any personality left or character. You know, the two components that built the Cup team.

Just wait until guys like Bruce Franklin, Ron Anderson, Mark Kelley, and Mark Bernard start to jetson themselves out of here. It has been a sad 2 years in Chicago. Would be 3 if they didn't win the Cup in 2010.

Of course, it's tough for someone like Marc Bergevin to turn down that job and I don't think anyone is arguing that he wouldn't have taken it either way. The real problem lies within the fact that Rocky is quickly following his fathers footsteps and allowing a tool to run the organization much like Bill allowed Pulford to screw his franchise for many years. It has come to a point where Rocky is blinded by those he trusts the most, unfortunately I don't think things will ever change.

this is great news!! Stan finally has somebody new he can trade with!!

This!!!

Too bad it's the Habs who have jack shit all.

It's a good move for the Habs I guess. Anyone is better than what they have had as GM in the past. Im not a huge Bergevin fan but he will do good in the political atmosphere of Montreal. God knows he got enough practice with it here. It's a huge test for him.

I'll ALWAYS miss Dudley. Just as much as Tallon. I know its 2 years but I'll never get over how it all happened. Dudley and Tallon were a deadly duo. Two guys with enough personality differences were it worked for the positive. It was a healthy give and take relationship btw those two and BOTH have incredible hockey senses. Dudley had the coaching experience Tallon had the office experience and BOTH had an incredible eye for talent and chemistry.

I always thought it was a little fucked that the management got their names engraved before the players.

Might Bergevin go after Vigneault?

Savard won't happen, and Haviland isn't a sexy enough hire for the Habs.

Vigneault was fired by the Habs years ago. He won't go back there in my opinion (Canucks don't seem to be interested in letting him go for some reason only that stupid org knows). Habs need fresh blood behind their bench. They need a culture change there something bad. No more bringing back the old guard.

With that said Patrick Roy will probably be hired. I actually could see Savard back there...thats so Habs its stupid.

Not saying he won't be a bad coach, and at least he is a Quebec icon who has done well with the Remparts. However, I don't know if that is a smart move due to lack of NHL coaching experience. Then again, what am I saying? They haven't been smart since 1993, and rookie coaches, especially former players seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays. All the cool kids are doing it, so why can't they?

That said.... Price for a 1st round draft pick and Crawford, anyone?

I like that these Hail Tallon's from everyone after they leave the organization is basically a FU to McD and Bowman. Rocky needs to get rid of McD before he completely ruins the organization, please.
