I think there are a lot of stats that indicate team toughness:

Hits, PIM obviously, but also faceoffs, takeaways, blocked shots... if you average all those together, the Hawks are top 10 in the league.

Realistically, there would be no other way to rate team toughness other than an eye test which is entirely opinion based, but combining those stats together might be the closest thing you can get towards that. This year, the Hawks are a much tougher team all around, I think everyone is just frustrated with the last two games. Forget about them, they are pointless to harp on when looking at the bigger picture.

Hit numbers are meaningless in this conversation. Boston is one of the most physical teams in the NHL. 18th in hits. St. Louis is also really physical. 13th. Anaheim: 12th. Philly: 21st. Hit numbers are a terrible indicator of physicality because of how poorly they are tracked.

Of course they aren't. Tailor it to your argument Pez.

I was going to go exactly where you just did but just didn't see the point. It can be twisted even though most would say exactly wht you are. When you factor all those together their record matches the top 10 over all record as well.

Go back three games and talk about that one. This year when the Hawks lose, minus the first loss, they have not shown up at all. 5 of the 6 regulation losses were not just L's they were game where the Hawks played very poorly. It has nothing to do with them being physical, or very little IMO. Then again I'm just a fan.

No arguments from me; I'm seeing that too.

Okay I don't feel like reading through the thread and I have been taking a Hawks vacation the last couple nights.

So I need quick facts.

Who is in and who is out for this game?

Thank you!!

Team needs Frolik and Seabs for their defensive work.

Smith just chose a bad time to get his 2 season games in. Poor guy.

TCD, just check the roster: http://www.indianhea...com/page/roster

Updated daily. Also another big move, Hawks changed up their PP units (why, who knows)... the 2nd unit added Bolland and dropped Montador back to D.

Is Q still trying to shove his head up his own asshole, and insisting on playing Sharp on the point? That first PP unit will suck until he pulls his head out of his ass.

Also, with how atrocious the PK has been lately, maybe Sharp should go back to PKing? Just a thought.

I'm happy to say I never drank any. Took all of about two weeks for me to see the team wins in spite of his best efforts to **** things up. Guy has been spoiled with superstar laden teams his entire coaching career, and only has one cup to show for it. Color me unimpressed.

You are all full of gems today. This one I agree with and always have. Was never impressed with Q, although I do believe he was a better option than Savard.

Per me....Hawks PP is back to sucking balls. If we lose the game can and should be blamed on it. **** Niemi and **** good goalkeeping. We can not be going 0-4 on powerplays and expect to win games like these.

Bolland does lately also. What's wrong with that guy he doesn't play like Dave Bolland anymore. I figure it's his back that won't allow him to play his style.

Love our defensive play so far tonight though. Just what the dr ordered in that department.

I am starting to have issues with Carcillo on the 2nd line now also. Nothing against Carcillo but we need a goal scoring wing there. We have none to fill that position though sooooooo. Not sure what the **** this team does there.

I actually thought the PP looked pretty good. A hot goalie is going to win games and that's what Niemi did.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the game the Hawks played last night. Had they shown that effort in Alberta I doubt we leave with no points. Unfortunately they didn't and last night added to the 3 game skid.

Good effort all around. Now continue that and you'll win a lot of games.
