He looked brutal in the first half of the game, like he was way out of his league, at both ends of the ice. The last half of the game was much improved, I think we all saw the potential of his offensive game during the last half. Another thing I thought while watching him was that he really needed to improve his foot speed, and keep his feet moving, throughout the entire game.

That said, it's pretty obvious that everyone on the Hawks were trying to feed him his first NHL goal... so I'm not sure I would say the puck was following him, I saw it as if they were just forcing plays to him so he could get an opportunity, most of the time the puck was stripped from him but he did get a few shots off (one of them was a really good chance, just lacked finish). In the third period, I thought he showed he had a good sense of vision and playmaking ability.

Too small of a sample size to really judge him, but he was OK after he settled in.

On another note: Handzus had three assists last night... I think they should give him another game between Sharp and Kane.

Basically I agree. The only reservation I have is his speed. For example his dish to Kaner last night was great but that happened around the blue line (?) and then I never saw him make it beyond the blue line for puck support but luckily it wasn't needed coz Kaner was awesome. But whatever, it certainly can't hurt for these final garbage games or even another test-run when the 1st Rd. starts.

That's a fair criticism of any kid making the jump to the big show. Saad looked a little slow of foot until about 20 games in. Now he is typically the F1 on the forecheck. I could never imagine playing at the speed of the NHLers. I would have a heart attack after two shifts and as some here have seen I do hustle pretty hard/fast when necessary.

Hopefully Leblanc fares better than Nathan Davis, another highly touted Hobby Baker award winning center whopse career fizzled (due to injury?).

Hopefully he fares better than Marty Sertich as well. And Kevin Porter. And Blake Geoffrion, Matt Gilroy, Ryan Duncan, Junior Lessard, Peter Sejna, Mike Mottau, Jason Krog, Brian Bonin, Brian Holzinger Chris Marinucci, Scott Pellerin, David Emma, Kip Miller, Lance McDonald, Robb Stauber, Tony Hrkac, Scott Fusco, Bill Watson, Mark Fusco and the incomparable George McPhee.

Maybe there's an off chance he's got more of a Chris Drury/Paul Kariya type future in store for him. Or maybe a not old-and- bad Brendan Morrison career coming. I don't know. All I know is that he's a Hobey Baker award winner. And those are his highly touted peers.

LeBlanc got two assists in his debut for team USA in the WHC against Austria, who they beat 5-3.

And LeBlanc looked damn good, especially in the 2nd Per---his imprint was all over that period. Watched the archive of the game this morning and man was Team USA dominant in Austria's zone when they finally picked their game up after they gave up the 2 goals early in the game. Looked like what you'd expect from a rag-tag group of guys just thrown together for two days and then told to put on the same uniforms. Then they and their nerves settled down, started to play with some objective. The puck possession became great.

You do have a point, Winos was wrong about that. Nathan Davis never won the Hobey Baker award.

My bad, he was a finalist and lost out to Duncan from ND that year (2007).

GO TEAM USA!!!! in their big game against RUS Tuesday in Helsinki. But I ain't gonna lie, I'm not really hopeful for a win with Varlamov or Bryzgalov in net and Kovalchuk, Anisimov, and Radulov playing for RUS. I fully admit to being one of the people in the camp that believe Radulov is easily the best player not currently playing in the NHL. He's so SCARY good.

Maybe the Hawks don't ever want to pick in the first round.

There have been several first round busts in the league as well....therefore, the majority of them will be

Beach, Skille, Barker, Babchuk, Monroe, Vorobiev, Yakupov, Mcarthy, Bell, Jones, Cleary, Nabokov, Lecompte - all first round busts.

And hell, they've only had 1 - 4th round pick (Hjarllmarsson) since 1993 (Daze)....even play more than a couple of games. So might as well do away with that pick too.

Hot damn Statsny's on fire so far in today's game! Two goal already. USA-RUS tied up 3-3 after 2 pers.

ETA: Damn! USA could not overcome RUS's fire power and lose 5-3. No pts. for LeBlanc.
