Ray Emery certainly had a night to forget in the Blackhawks 4-3 shoot out win. Despite going 10-0-2 at home this season, Emery gave up 3 goals on 6 shots in the 1st period after the Hawks pelted Jaroslav Halak with 13, only getting one past him. Before the game, he was asked about his home success, and perhaps cursed himself.

“Each night’s a new night,” Emery said. “And as soon as you start looking at that stuff, that’s when you slip up.”

With a .500 save percentage in the opening frame, Joel Quenneville opted to start Corey Crawford in the 2nd period and never looked back. Crawford turned aside every shot (18-18, 3-3) to vault the Blackhawks to a 4-3 shoot-out victory.

Andrew Brunette kicked off the scoring for the Blackhawks on an incredible play from Marian Hossa. It must have been windy in the United Center because the veteran caught a burst of speed that allowed him enough open space to shake all defenders, break one-on-one with Jaroslav Halak and tuck the puck above Halak's glove and into the top corner.

The Hawks dominated possession from puck drop, and that continued throughout the entire game despite the 3-1 comeback.

Jamal Mayers dropped the mitts with B.J. Crombeen, and later Brandon Bollig sticking up for Mayers off a vicious check from Ryan Reaves for round two. Bollig ended up with a 17-minute rest after a hard fought battle, although Reaves did not receive a penalty on the hit initial hit.

In the 2nd period, Johnny Oduya did a marvelous job keeping the puck in the zone to allow Marcus Kruger to fire the puck on net, Viktor Stalberg deflected the puck off his shin and into the net for his first goal in 13 games, cutting the Blues lead 3-2.

Perhaps the power-play did not produce at a great percentage, but it certainly came through at the right time. The Blackhawks power-play finally connected in the 3rd period as Brent Seabrook blasted a puck past a jumping Andrew Shaw and beating Jaroslav Halak, who could not locate the puck.

Halak and Crawford were perfect the remainder of the game. Halak had a tougher night ahead of him, pelted with 46 shots overall, including several vocal chord blowing saves in the last half of the game.

Neither team was able to strike in over-time. In the shootout Patrick Kane was the first and only player to score, slipping the puck between Halak's legs and into the net. Corey Crawford was perfect throughout the game and carried over into the shootout, stopping all three attempts by the St. Louis Blues.

BLACKHAWKS THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Corey Crawford

2. Brent Seabrook

3. Johnny Oduya

That was the most entertaining game I've watched in a while. 2 points against the best team in the NHL was nice too.

Crawford will be our Playoff Starter. I would say you heard it here first, but I've been saying it for a while.

Played a great game, Seabrook was just dominant out there too, but Keith still looks like shit.

Bowman is a shitty GM....Oduya sucks and Q played him way too much/he's going to be worn down

Stalberg sucks

Left out Out Hit!

Since Oduya the Hawks are 5-1-1 and thats all witout Toews.

I usually don't do this but Kane was approached about taking a different role with this team, and holy shit has he. He's playing his best hockey, points or not, since he's arrived in Chicago.

Remember all those assholes asking for his trade. Assholes!

Oh and the "Pylon" Seabs had his second excellent game in a row. God Damn Pylon!

only saw the first period and it didn't look good then. Great to see they pulled out the comeback.

On a side note Puscifer live is amazing. Maynard does it yet again.

yup, and Crawford is garbage and we should trade Bolland for a third line center, one who actually knows how to play his position!

You can tell through the post game interviews he has taken responsibility for this team in the absence of Toews.

For some guys it comes later and unexpected. You don't trade talent like Kane's. It comes back to bite you in the ass.

And the both of us said it when Keith won the Norris. He should have cut it in half and gave it to Seabrook.

Steady and dependable. The pylon that people think is on the ice is really in Edmonton. (I miss Cam)

shit, I thought the whole thing should have been given to Seabrook that season. Keith put up good offensive numbers, but the backend was all Seabs. If memory serves me right, Seabrook missed 4 games that season, and Keith was a big minus player in those games.

I've always liked Crawford. I suppose part of that's watching his entire carreer. I liked Anderson as well and this organization did everything in their power to ruin him.

I liked Anderson too... can you imagine if they actually developed the home-town kid, kept him, and he raises the Cup with the Hawks in 09-10? Has there been any Hawk that has done that?

Good comeback. A good feat considering how difficult it is to score against the Blues. I wouldn't mind the Hawks staying where they are in the standings and face whatever Pacific that makes it.

I'm so happy they broke up the Blooz penalty kill streak too. Bunch of ****** nozzles on that team.

I don't see them getting to 4 or 5 unless there's a huge collapse by the one of the central teams ahead of us. If we play steady we should maintain 6th and get the Stars, Coyotes or Sharks in the 1st round and Blues in the second.

Love to see Nasville & Detroit beat the shit out of each other in the first round. Vancouver and the Flames would be a nice first round match to watch or have the Sharks or the Stars play Vancouver and beat the shit out of each other.

Go Hawks!

Same thing happened to me even with adding a 30 minute extension.
