I thought we looked very sloppy and lethargic at the beginning (even before all the scoring started)...just not totally engaged at the beginning, not catching passes, etc, but I give our guys a lot of credit for not quitting...sometimes you get rewarded if you keep at it and I thought the Hawks were looking better and better as the game went on.

Hjammer should have stapled Langenbrunner to the wall on goal 1...a Blows played would have done it to us. Then after his big lazy circling figure skating routine he screens (and I think even deflected) the shot...it's the "Aucoin hat trick" there.

The puck definitely changed direction on Emery.

I think Q switched goalies at the end of the 1st period just to tell the team the pull its collective head out of its collective ass and to switch things up, not because Emery played atrociously (or some other word like that). The first and third goals were both deflected past Emery and the second goal was just sick.

Same thing happened to me even with adding a 30 minute extension.

I had to get the final score on NHL Tonight AKA On the Fly!

Ditto, we extended 30 mins. too as usual.

Did Hammer break down again. "Upper body" again? I am guessing concussion symptoms returned again. It puts the Hawks medical staff in a questionable light with letting players come back too early.

Not sure if he backed down...even if he did not hit Langenbrunner he needs to stop there, not take a big loop. How many times do coaches say "comon boys, stops and starts tonight, no figure skating.." If he stops he gets right in the shooters face and snuffs the play right there. It looked more like a lazy play than anything. Stopping a starting pour lactic acid into the legs...but the legs feed the wolf.

EDIT: I should say that I am not trying to single out Hjammer here...just this his play was memorable because of the result. Bolland made a lazy loop once too and there were others...

I know we were sarcastically ripping Bolland in chat... but seriously why did Bolland shoot in the shootout and not Hossa?

yup, and Crawford is garbage and we should trade Bolland for a third line center, one who actually knows how to play his position!

Let me know where I ever said trade him for a third line center.

I said they need a second line center, and the players I mentioned them trying to get this offseason were Stastmy or Weiss. Wouldn't mind Ribiero either. But I guess that's who you consider third line centers and Bolland's production being that of a second line center....there is no point discussing what is and what isn't an offensively productive player.

Crawford played well for two periods...Halak and Quick for that matter were outstanding the last two games for their teams...and got them the three points. I hope Crawford plays consistent and not give up the shit goal here and there he and Emery have been doing. Q has given them bothb every opportunity to play consistent and I'm glad Q's shown the guts to make the changes in game when needed. It's worked a few times this year pulling the starter and coming back and winning. At this point, I don't expect either goalie to steal games, just make the saves they're supposed to make.

What line does Turris play on for the Sens? You know the guy we should've traded Bolland for when he still had value?

Bolland is a number one center on most all teams like you said, right?

If he passes the tests and is ready to play how are they supposed to know? again it's sucn an UNPROVEN ailement I don't think that statement is very valid. Crosby came back and was out. Savard came back and was out. Many players have come back and gone right out again.

They have a protocol, league wide, and it's followed.

He's probably been good in the shootouts in practice?

Did Hjarllmarsson stay on the bench during the game? There was some article/talk that he wasn't hurt that he was benched....but of course, it wasn't mentioned during the game.

But tree turty tree was be sure to be mentioned

Foley is getting intolerable.

I think there are players (Hossa for one) who do not like doing the shoot out at all

And while fans piss and moan in who/why Q puts some people out ahead of others, the players not feeling comfy in doing them comes into play more than coaches choices

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Where has this team been for that last...40-odd games?

Brunette said it best about compete level...it just hasn't been there. The guys need to play with this much intensity night-in-night out.
