I couldn't disagree with you more for the last 5 periods he played. He was far from "average" and I stand by you watching the 2nd period again. That's where had he allowed a goal it would have given them plenty of momentum.

Average, that's fucking funny! There were some HUGE saves he made in there. I suggest you watch the highlights Tony posted.

He must have been 'average" during the shoot out as well. Stopping all three shots. I know 100% is pretty average.

If Crow lets in a goal in the last 5 minutes of the 2nd (when Dallas was coming on the strongest) It could have very well been a loss.

But this argument seems like a lost cause. Haters gonna Hate

IMO I agree but it's been a "team" issue more than goalie. Other than the occassional soft goal.

Soft goals hurt, poor team defense kills.

I've been saying this for a while. soft goals hurt, but the team was just playing awful in front of Corey. Sure, Crow has been inconsistent, but you're out of your mind if you don't think the Hawks have been!

He's 39th in save percentage and 38th in GAA

At the 50gm mark the team was tops in the league - not sure how that's awful - despite what's been more bad than good goaltending.

I want Crawford to do well, he played well all year last year. But 2-3 good games this year...then shitting the bed for 3-4 doesn't make it easy on the players in front of him. The offense has been near the top all season.

As far as Bolland and it's all his linemates? So all year, he's played with shitty linemates.

.

This year...he's had a span of

10/22 - 11/23 - 12gms - 2g-0a-2pts -7

11/29 - 12/21 - 11gms - 2g-1a-3pts -2

02/21 - 03/16 - 12gms - 2g-0a-2pts -2 (while Toews has been out)

So...in 35gms - 6g-1a-7pts - 11

Then in the other 33gms - 12g-13a-25pts - +4 - playing with the same shitty players and getting slacked on icetime by Q

Bolland is 3rd on the team in shifts per game - behind Toews and Hossa and 5th in TOI behind Kane, Hossa, Toews and Sharp

Bolland has been inconsistant in years past -

Last year - 1st 22gms - 1g-4a-5pts E.....last 39-14g-18a-32pts +11 (2nd in shifts per gm/5th in TOI)

09-10 - Missed Nov, Dec, Jan....so hard to gauge how he was feeling before/after...but had a 17gm span with 1g (3rd in shifts per gm/5th in TOI)

08-09 - First 14gms - 0g-6a-6pts+3....then from 3/7 to 4/7 16gms-2g-4a-6pts -4 (had those 6pts in 4gm span in that time)...but rest of that season - 51gms- 17g-18a-35pts+18 (1st in shifts per gm/6th in TOI)

07-08 - Rookie season/only 39gms

So Q hates him, screws him over...but puts him on the ice in shifts top 3 in the time he's been here. His ice time, is top 6. Bolland has proven he goes in spurts and can score - but then goes completely dry for 10-12gms. He plays with the same players during each of those seasons...just as this season. But he goes into offensive funks for too long of periods. He proves he can go 35-40gms and scores...then shit the others. Is it ever up to him to be consistent or it'll always be Q, his linemates, the sun in his eyes....or whatever?

Personally, I question his offseasons. Haven't seen him come into a year stronger/faster...but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he does put his time in. But I do think it's on him to put together a full 82gms season without those 2-3 12gm droughts he goes on and put up numbers. Q has mixed/matched all the other players and they don't go in slumps like that - every single year.

Until then, IMO...he's a 3rd line player for half the year...2nd line player the other half when he's scoring. Now...before that whole "he's a shut down center" bs starts to spew...who's he shut down this year? Oh wait, thats the playoffs he does that. Well, Sedin's score just as much vs CHI/Bolland as they do every other team. The difference between Bolland's regular season/playoffs? Isn't the shut down stuff...it's his scoring consistently during that time - which is all I expect of him.

Nope, Just Bolland.

Just for curiosity sake, You wanna throw down the first month of every single year for Jonathan Toews?

Now...before that whole "he's a shut down center" bs starts to spew...who's he shut down this year? Oh wait, thats the playoffs he does that. Well, Sedin's score just as much vs CHI/Bolland as they do every other team.

and you're right, Bolland didn't shut down the Sedin's at all for the past three seasons, they just don't try in the playoffs.

oh wait. D Sedin in game 1-3 last year had 5 points and was a +4

H Sedin in game 1-3 last year had 4 points and a +3

D Sedin in game 4-7 had 2 points and -6

H Sedin in game 4-7 had 1 point and -7

just one big coincidence of course!

oh, and your TOI argument is stupid, since he picks up a lot of PK time. I'm sure you hate that though, since he obviously can't shut anyone down, and hasn't been the teams top SH scorer for what? 2 years now?

They were there because despite the terrible, putred team D, they were scoring goals at massive pace. Run and Gun and worry about the back end later. Leaving their goalies, both of them, out to fucking dry with massive amounts of quality shots.

They led the LEAGUE in GF at that time as well. So why worry about giving up 3 when you are going to score 4? I don't lay it on the goalie, but the explination of why was clear. When they stopped scoring goals at that pace, they're shitt, poor team defense caught up to them.

Since the last two games of the road trip this team has focused on team defense.

Don't have to convince me. He made 4-5 excellent saves at the end of the second. Dallas was all over the Hawks. He gives up one there it completely changes the momentum of the game.

And I'll call Crawford out as being shakey when he is. His soft goals have cost this team a couple of games this year, as in the momentum swing above. Last 5 periods, that's the goalie who can take this team deep into the playoffs IMO.

No shit sherlock.

so I did make myself clear then. Carry on.

Feel free to chime in on the Bolland argument while you're here. Make yourself useful and earn the hat I gave you.

I think Bolland has not played as well as he's capable. Is some of that coaching, it could be sure. I'm not a huge Quenneville fan and never have been. Did I think the Line of Sharp-Kruger was on last night. Yes. Infact on Sharps first goal I thought Krugers positioning and ability to take a pass/shot was part of why Sharp scored. Kruger had a wide open shot as well had Sharp chosen to pass the puck.

I love Bolland. He's a playoff producer and difference maker when it counts. Last nights Bolland needs to stick around.

All you need to do is look at last years Playoffs. Hawks are most likely swept if he doesn't return when he did.

Agreed...and can I be pissed off at Keith? I fault him on the only goal more than anyone with that giveaway.

Really, Netminding and team D go hand-in-hand, and unfortunately, there's no real stat that ranks saves by quality or goals by ease. It just appears to me that this year, yes, there are times that our goalies have let in softies, but there have been many more times they've been hung out to dry because we forgot how to play D in the backend.

Regardless, an Excellent win and it's good to see the team stlling down and finding ways to win in spite of no Toews.

Hogwash. You weren't watching the game I watched, then. Stars had very few quality chances and the 22 SOG is accurate because of the blocked shots and solid defense. Sure he's won a few games in a row; he's done that all season, then shit the bed. We'll see what happens...

Nice to see the "average goalie" acquire NHL's 2nd star of the WEEK. I just wonder what other "average goalies" he beat out to get it.

LOL!

an average goalie won #1 also. Every goalie in the NHL is average except for Tim Thomas.
