trubisky has gone through growing pains but at the same time this is how you learn and get better. Its apparent that pace must hire an offensive minded head coach, someone who can continue to groom trubisky and will not leave via a promotion. Everyone talks about the bears being the saints of the midwest, well that team had a offensive genius in payton so i'd expect something similar in chicago... If pace is unable to hire someone of that stature I would then start to believe phillips/mccaskey are interferring and enforcing their own opinions and if thats the case chicago will never be a good team until the team is sold.

If Pace gets the hire wrong, it could just be because he picked the wrong guy. We're already giving him a pass for Fox. At some point he has to buckle up his big boy pants and take responsibility for his own decisions.

My feeling is that as a young GM who already had the head coaching candidate put on him from Ernie accorsi, I am indeed willing to let John Fox slide and give a young GM a second head coach.

I am also of the mind that if the second head coach does not work out, both of the GM and the head coach must go.

Therefore, I think it absolutely crucial that pace make the right hire.

I'm not worried that Pace will pick the right guy. I worry that the right coach will not want to come here and that will force Pace to go with another "safe" hire or a total "risk" hire, like the Rams OC.

I think Pace is screwed, and if he lands one of the big names then I will be surprised.

We are really getting our excuses ready here for Pace aren't we?

For what it's worth, I think aside from Giants, the Bears job is probably next in line as long as the coach likes Trubisky. And if a coach doesn't want to come here, it's likely a combination of...

- poor ownership (nothing Pace can do)
- they don't like the roster (on Pace)
- they don't like Trubisky enough (on Pace)

We can agree on this for sure. The support network above Pace is the absolute worst in the league but that doesn't give him a pass.

Are there any hires Ryan might make that would immediately convince you he was not a competent GM? Say he hired Jiff Fisher (and no, I don't think he will). You guys keep spouting that Ernie Accorsi forced Fox on Pace, I never bought that narrative, and even if true, I might actually think less of him than I do now. Are you also saying at the beginning of this year he was told to retain Fox for the 2017 season?

There is a difference between following the league, and being a fan of a team that has done quarterback development before and knowing what it looks like day in and day out.

So no, not dumb at all. We know defense and running backs, QBs not so much.

WTF? As football fans we have all watched QB's being developed, except Teddy KFC wearing his Bears blinders. KFC thinks there are only 2 NFL teams the Bears and that weeks opponent.

No wonder Teddy KFC is so fucking football illiterate, he only knows what the Bears tell him.

God this place has gone so far downhill.

The cold harsh reality is that none of us even know what a real qb prospect, real QB development, or real offensive systems look like, because we have never seen it firsthand done successfully.

Thank you for speaking for me on this subject. My television is only capable of carrying Bears games, so this is a 100% accurate statement.

I dont think everyone gives him a pass for fox, we will never know the truth of whether fox was forced onto pace or pace hired him of his own free will. It could simply be accorsi recommended it and pace took the advice. The bottom line is pace is responsible for fox, he didnt throw fox under the bus nor did he spin any stories to say that fox was not his choice. At the end of the day pace will get one more coaching hire, i fully expect it to be a offensive minded HC to keep continuity for trubisky.

You got to remember Teddy KFC emphatically claimed Amari Cooper sucked then followed it up with

Yeah frankly that's what I get for commenting when I haven't seen him play. Just remembered another thread where the people were bitching about him sucking this year.

I'll just shut up about Amari Cooper now ( and no, not shutting up for good).

I don’t recall any first time GMs getting a third chance at hiring a head coach. So Pace fucks this up and he and, almost certainly, the HC are gone. He has to know this and he doesn’t get a pass for Fox. If he took the job knowing they would force someone on him he knowingly gave away his first miss.

Nope. It's still a dumb statement. Own it.

Does Teddy KFC stop watching the NFL after week 17 if the Bears miss the playoffs?

In the playoffs there are a whole bunch of well coached QB's, all you have to do is watch and listen. Just because something happens outside of Halas Hall doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I just recently heard about this "Carson Wentz" player. He seems to be doing well in the two career games he's played.

Not near as dumb as you saying you know Trubisky will never be a star.

There was only one star QB from this draft and Pace passed on him. Only talking the facts man, sorry you don't like to hear it. It hurts me too that our GM couldn't see it.

All is not lost, Trubisky should be good with the right supporting cast. But we will be talking for the next decade of what could have been.

Trubisky has a higher ceiling then your star. I expect he will have a better career too. But we'll see.

At least he can walk to the mailbox and not blow his knee out.
