The Blackhawks tightened up their game against the surging Ottawa Senators and stole a win at the Scotiabank Place to start their mini road-trip.
The night didn't start so hot for Ray Emery, who let in a weak shot from practically from the blue-line. But the rest of the night Emery was solid and the Hawks defense was tight enough to reduce Ottawa to just 26 shots on the night.
The offense picked up in the 2nd period, notching two goals, one of them from Marian Hossa on the power-play and another on a delayed call from Bryan Bickell.
The Hawks peppered rookie goaltender Robin Lehner with 39 shots and easily could have had another 3 goals if not for flubbed plays by Andrew Brunette. Despite not recording a single point, Kane had a huge impact in the game and generated numerous opportunities offensively.
A lot of names deserve to be in the three stars of the game, specifically Patrick Sharp, Andrew Shaw, and Ray Emery. The team certainly tightened up and displayed flashes of the 2010 offense that employed the left-wing lock. We've seen this before, the question now is if they can do it consistently.
