say what you want about W3, but through all of his short comings, you always knew where you stood.
You say that, till someone does it.... which I'd only be ok with if they aim it at the ref. But then we'd see the nice trend of nets enclosing the entire rink.

Can we take up a collection to buy the team while Rocky is distracted by his liquor legacy?
I just want to add a bit about how McD fucked the Cubs over before he came to **** up the Hawks. He was a marketing guru for years. The guy had a gimmick for every game it seemed. Beanie Babies, floppy hats, bobble heads, his baby was the Cubs Convention which he immediately brought to the Hawks. And of course he would schedule himself a weekly appearance on Cubs games to announce upcoming gimmicks. The most dangerous place in Chicago is between McD and a camera. Pushing these gimmicks and wrigleyville he was able to get butts in seats. In 2004 when the Cubs were fading out of a playoff spot McD pushed the removal of Steve Stone from the Cubs announcing booth for daring to be critical of management. Luckily he was kept free of actual baseball decisions till the Tribune Co. rewarded him for his money making skills by naming him President in 2006. He immediately began fucking up the team. He pushed for an aging Lou Pinella as manager over Joe Girardi. He also made a significant push to sign Alfonso Soriano to an eight year 154 million dollar contract, as well as numerous other large free agent deals. Soon after he jumped ship for the Hawks leaving behind his prodigy Crane Kenny a lawyer with no baseball knowledge just like McD. Who continued destroying the Cubs until the team was sold and new management removed him from baseball operations last year.
I think Dales plan was always to get Campbell so that part I totally dismiss. Huet on the other hand, hook, line and sinker. I could be wrong but think Dales plan all along was to have Niemi come back up Khabi. Instead Huet threw a huge wrench into the plans. The talk about Campbell was LONG before Bill passed away. That I know for fact.
Ironically I feel Mcdonough knew, that through the sale of the Cubs, his gig there was going to come to an end. It was no surprise he hopped ship so fast. To Rocky's defense some he needed someone to market this team. Bill never cared enough, nor did he allow the good folks there in marketing do their job. Well Mcdonough FIRED all but one of those, who is still there I might add. Some of them he fired literally in the middle of the night so to speak. Good people who were just never given reigns to do their jobs. Many of the marketing ideas you see were NOT Mcdonoughs. I won't go further into it, but am confident I'm on the correct path with that one. Hawks Store in Ohare, and many other ideas were there long before he arrived.
Instead he brought along his side kick Jay Blunk, who for some ungodly reason has his NAME on the fucking Cup over guys like Brian Bickell and or Rick fucking Dudley.
He then went one step further and intertwined TICKET SHAFTER and Chris Werner from ticket Shafter to have the Hawks do what he invented over at the Cubs in SCALPING their own tickets.
Now bringing that up my tickets last year were 140 a peice. The MINIMUM I could sell them, for the premium games on Click Tix was 250.00 per ticket, meaning the Hawks would make the profit on the original sale and THEN make a double profit in taking 15% of the profit on my sale. Double dipping anyone. Great scam if I must say. Very similar to the Cubs, a Major League team, SCALPING their OWN tickets.
I recall the whole Niemi deal. The Red Wings were hot on his trail. I believe he was bascially about to sign there. Then the Hawks put the press on. Probably by Scotty Bowman's referral. He did not want to play in the AHL and he was pretty well blocked in Detroit. I am sure those were key factors and my guess is we assured him that he would be Khabi's back-up. So he signs with us. Then we sign Huet for the splash and Niemi is told he has to go to the AHL. I don't think he was happy about that.
