Heres interesting idea Brad Miller and 16 for Kaman. It gives the extra money to resign Gordon at 8 million next season and average of 9 million a year

That's a trade I could certainly get behind.

You could also maybe do Tim Thomas + Jerome James for Kaman and keep Miller who's decent. This might be more acceptable to the clippers since they don't actually have to pay James, but would give us salary cap room this year helping both teams financially.

I am not real big on having Kaman and Miller both. I like the Tyrus, Miller idea or even Miller and the #16. In a perfect world I like the idea of Tyrus and Miller and then use the #16 on a guy like Patterson and hopefully be able to bring Gordon back to go with Rose, Hinrich, Salmons and Deng. Two questions Doug, how reasonable is getting Gordon back on a 3 year deal as opposed to a 5 or 6 year deal? Also, if say the team does a buyout for Tim Thomas how much can we expect that buyout number to be? I ask because of whether that might be an easier way to clear some capspace(maybe $5 million or so).

I doubt we could clear more than $1 million by buying out Tim Thomas.

I don't know that Miller / Kaman is a good combo, but the fact that Thomas/James saves the Clippers money I think it would be a lot easier to persuade them to make that trade.

Yi would be an absolutely INGENIOUS addition. I never thought about it until the original poster brought this up so mad props to him for having the insight to think of that.

As has been widely reported, Lawrence Frank hasn't been fully sold on Yi so he is still having to earn his trust if he wants to see some serious minutes.

But I'm telling you what - if Chicago was able to land this kid...maybe trade Tyrus for him or something good like that...if we could get Yi there's only one thing I see in Yi as a Chicago Bull.

Transcendant star.

Not quite a SUPERSTAR but a transcendant STAR. There's not a doubt in my mind.

His debut season in Milwaukee was a wash and the past year in New Jersey, he wasn't given the minutes he needed but if and when this guy gets the minutes he needs, i can easily see him getting you 20 and 11 a game and pretty much just doing that for 12 or 13 and 14 or more years till he retires.

He is YOUNG - he is LONG - he is LANKY - he is FAST - he is ENGAGING AND VERY QUOTEABLE...he has a personality...he's good with the kids and the community...he is ATHLETIC - he has all the attributes you want in a player.

Chicago Bulls management? GET THIS GUY and get ready to see what was lacking the past few years.

This kid might just be the answer.

Props again to the guy who posted first about him.

He's not that young, he was really 22 when he entered the draft and not 19. He's not that athletic or fast either. His length is up for debate as he didn't attend the official predraft measurements.

I'm telling you, Yi is bust city. I bet NJ doesn't even pick up his 4th year option.

He's younger and faster and stronger and longer than you so give the kid a chance!

Maybe YOU'RE bust city, Mr. Dougontheus!

Mark it down. Given the right chance and given quality minutes, Yi can be a franchise player.

The only thing I see happening if we got Yi, would be me puking all over myself. Yi sucks. He sucks now. He sucks when he was drafted. He has a hard time dribbling a basketball. However, based on Frank's point of Hinrich being the best player on the team the last 3 years, I'd assume his whole Yi tantrum was a joke anyways. HAHAHA I get it!!

He reminds me of Dirk. Dirk struggled early in his career but found his finesse, comfort, and shot. I would get him soon as they make him available. I think he would thrive in a Vinny system. He can shoot off the pick and pop with a deadly slasher like Rose. Right now, Yi is basically a reserve. You can't teach height and I think he will eventually get it right.

=i disagree wholeheartedly. i dont think yi will ever be quick enough to play the sf, and he wont be tough enough to play the pf/c. I'd rather have tyrus then yi.

I'm not a fan of giving the 16th pick up. Hoopsworld have us picking (16th)Patterson and (26th)Mullens. Now I'll do a trade of Brad Miller and the 26th pick for Jamison and Crittenton of Wizards.

If someone drafted me 6th in the NBA draft and paid me millions, believe me, my name would be rued as the worst draft day decision in the history of the NBA. Bust city. Of course, no one did such a thing.

Mark it down, Tyrus Thomas has a better scoring rate and more efficiency than Yi while having few offensive skills. He's also younger and 100x the athlete.

Oh man I agree 100% with Doug. Yi is a joke, he is too slow, weak, can't jump, I guess he could run long distance. I've seen a lot of Nets games and unless he comes here because we made trades and just need to fill a roster spot there is no reason to pick him up. Even Neil Funk can be right sometimes.

Also of note: Yi almost got voted in this year to the all star game because of China. The NBA should make a Chinese vote worth less than the American votes (sorry sounds harsh but c'mon) because of their mass population. If he started I would probably quit watching ball.

You guys are probably right, actually. I think I drank the Kool-Aid on Yi a little too early.

Should the NBA do away with fan voting and allow the coaches instead to vote for ALL the players, including the starters?

Yi will be a perfect seventh man. He can shoot very good off the pick and pop. He does play similar to Malik Allen.

Malik Allen is a pretty crappy basketball player too, and nowhere near 7th man quality. Not the guy you want to be compared to if you're a lottery pick.

I had forgotten about that. I guess it would have to be big bad Brad.

I would just make fan voting 30% or 50% , not take it all away from them.

But I would rather stick with Miller than Kaman, Miller stays on the court. It's the oldest killer in the book, throughout the history for basketball, INJURIES. I love Kaman's game but he would never play and it would hurt us.

That would be pretty close cap figure though if we wanted to get Bosh or Amare
