Thanks Jax and wino, it's good to be back. I hope you are right RK, obviously nobody can replace what Hossa brings but this is invaluable experience for Saad and a great chance for us to see the kind of skills he's going to bring to the table. I'm excited to see him play just not under these circumstances.

Said it before:

The idea of suspensions being 10-20 games with pay going into an injury fund would be a deterrent, no question.

I think you meant to say "without"

I think he had it right klemmer, the suspended players pay going into the fund rather than the pay being kept by the team but it seems like it would six of one half dozen of the other to the offending player. Either way they are out their pay.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I think a better fiscal deterrant should be that for games suspended, the offending player owes the emergency fund the balance of thie paycheck for days suspended, and the player they injured's paycheck for days suspended.

Now, how would Torres' like that?

That's a GREAT idea, would suck for players on the lower end of the payscale but it would added protection for your franchise players.

Yeah, misread it, even after quoting it...

I think it made it easier for them to send him down and keep a few games tucked away since he didn't exactly light it up and the Hawks really weren't desperate to experiment. I agree though, 2 games is not enough to really know what you have anyway but it is what it is.

the 2 games was until Carcillo came back.

What could really work would be a suspension 1 and 1/2 times the length of time the player is out with an injury plus the team owner pay an equal amount that the offending player pays in fines. That would kind of offset the Smith clown act where he wasn't injured at all, where coaches keep players out until the suspension hearing is over.

No, again, they already do stupid shit like this. You can't do that, because you end up protecting the player who laid out an extremely dangerous and malicious hit if the player he hit just happens to not get hurt by it or miss any time. Can't decide it like that.

Hey, welcome back CP.

where the hell you been?

Thanks guys. I moved down to Louisiana last September RK. IHN was down for a good long while there and I stopped looking for it, then after game 3 I decided to check again and how about that it was back! Which ref was that who was standing exactly 10 feet from the hit? I'd love to send him a box of glasses.
