I mean, taking face-offs is an important part of being a center... I suppose it's possible a winger could take the face-off but why would a team start their shift out of position? I'd like to see an example because I don't know "plenty" of teams who do that... or even one team that does that.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
For awhile when we had Yannic Perrault wasn't he swapped in to take a face-off and then shifted to a wing when the play got going?

Yanic would take the face-off then get off the ice because he just sucked other than that... lol

Problem was he was only good on one side of the net when it came to draws.

It seemed he was always on the scoresheet when he was in town with a Coyotes uniform on.

Is a LW/RW that takes faceoffs a closet center?

I'm sure he will blame Tallon for making the signing in the first place

Well shit, what did we get out of it? Cap room that we can't use because no one wants to trade valuable things right now and a guy named Oledsglkjsdlg doesn't matter cause he's gone...

i blame Tallon for not kicking Rocky in the ass when he hired McDumbshit and started the Scooter revolution.

We don't even know what the trade front is.

Outside of a few teams, the fact that conferences are so close in standings means many teams haven't decided to buy or sell. I'm going to assume teams that have decided to be sellers are currently asking for a lot because there are so few of them.

I'll hold my opinion till after the deadline and see what moves if any Bowman makes before making a fair judgement.

Perhaps this year is the wrong time for that change, maybe next year when Saad, Shaw, Hayes, Olsen, Smith, Pirri, Morin, are all ready to fill the shoes left behind by the old-timers will be the moment Stan changes his philosophy from "rebuild" to "this is the year". Because, lets be honest, if that is his plan then perhaps that truly is the best route to take if the Blackhawks want to carry the Cup through Chicago again. This isn't to say this year is lost, because it isn't. But perhaps more of an acceptance of what Bowman is trying to accomplish. The writing is on the wall, it's just a matter of perception.

If the Hawks have what amounts to 7 rookies in their line up, next year won't be "this is the year".

I know that, but I only included players that are still in the organization to show what we've gained out of each deal. For example, Barker didn't just land us Leddy, and technically Kopecky was not traded for Montador. It's pretty much cut to the bottom line of what we received for each deal.

I'm not sure we got "nothing" for Ladd yet, Clendening looks very promising.

In the US vs Canada World Jr game, Clendening was absolutely brutal. On a team that could not get to the medal round, he was the worst dman.

Hayes, Pirri, Morin, Olsen, Shaw, Smith, and to a lesser extent Saad all have pro experience the same way Brouwer, Versteeg, Hjalmarsson, Bolland and Buff were still fresh in 08-09 and helped the team to the Conference Finals (not to mention, Toews and Kane 2nd season). If the core had more experience to get past the Wings, perhaps we win the Cup that year instead. The difference now is the core does have experience, and I am pretty confident they'll tow along any younger players in the right direction. Also, I was not suggesting all of them would make the team, just saying the Hawks will be more talented without sacrificing cap space because most of them should be NHL ready and should replace the band-aids.

The point was that the philosophy would change and our window of opportunity would start next year and extend for 2-3 years after that.

Campbell. And don't give me that salary crap stuff. You can find a way. No montador + cap space = Gingered wonder.

Bruno. I thought it was going to be fine but I'm not a fan. Too old and slow, for the money.

Carcillo, yes this one is debatable but he really only had that hot start then then bonehead came out.

Some other things in there like OD and the Montador deal itself which isn't too horrible but I think he overpaid.

Mostly just my ramblings.

Yep. And if nothing else on this team right now he would be just destroying minutes and helping Keith and Seabs get the hell off the ice.
