I agree there are some guys i wouldnt spend money on. I also think there are guys like Fielder that i would. Not to many 27 y/o 1B studs hit the market every year.
Carlos Pena don't do it for you :shifty:

I agree with X on this one, there's really no chance in this happening.

However, just because 17<18 doesn't mean the Cubs should make the trade. The Cubs still need pitching for now.

I think both sides have a great case in making the deal or not.

Not to be dick but i watch 125 + games a year. I see these guys day and day out. You can ask my wife, she thinks i love baseball more then her most days. I read any article i can find on Cubs. I watch all press conferences. I do feel i know the game better then most fans. Yes its ok we have different opinions, great thing about baseball. Just sometimes hard me to hear guys who dont know the game as well argue with me. I agree Cubs have a long way to go to win but no one saw this team winning after 2006 and they did. It can happen if built right. Im sorry but Cubs should never have to rebuild as you say. They have to many resources. They draw 3 mil + every year cause its the Cubs. So to say they are in rebuild mode is just 100% wrong. They are more in an overhaul mode then anything. Theo and Hoyer will want to bring in some of its own guys. I understand that. As a fan its just going to be hard to see A-Ram leave when we all know its going to be a huge downgrade. Hard to say that Figgins makes more sense then Z when Cubs need SP just as badly as the next team. People think i just want to spend money likes it nothing but i just want the Cubs to do what they should do as a big market team that has 3 mil + fans every year. They should be spending around 140 mil every year on payroll. Espicially now that they cant go nuts in the draft like they thought. Today on CSN offseason baseball show 3 guys said that the Cubs will be bigger players on market cause of new CBA. Honestly there only 1 contract holding the Cubs down now and its Soriano. Z and Demp are gone at end of year so they can backload some contracts this offseason to help them this year and future.
Honestly I don't care how much baseball you watch. If I had the time to I would watch that much to. But I have a job, friends, school, etc. to deal with. I don't have the time to sit on my ass and watch a ball game all day. And honestly I don't need to. The fact that you think your more baseball smart then me i find funny. I am baseball smart. Maybe not in sabre stats and shit like that. But I have played the game I understand what it takes to win. And I don't think you can say iI don't know the game as well as you do. I sit in class reading cubs articles, I come home and read some more. Before last season I argued with WFH about how I want them to go 162-0 and win the series every year and that losing is never good in my book I'm a perfectionist. But even I understand right now that we are not a team that can compete right now. Even with Aramis we are a long way off. To keep Z is a mistake due to the fact that the man repeatidly fucks up. He's a nutcase and he walked out on his teammates, thats the worst thing you can do as a player. He doesn't deserve another chance to me. I also think Figgins can bounce back and has a higher upside then Z. Thats where I have been coming from with that argument. Your incorrect when you sit there saying you know baseball more then I do and it frustrates you etc. truth is, you watch more baseball then I do and that it. Baseball is my passion. I love the sport to death and wish I could play or watch it all the time. I know my baseball and my opinions make more sense then yours do most of the time. But hey whatever dude I'm honestly done arguing with you over stupid shit thats pretty obvious because your a "hardcore fan" and quite frankly a homer.

that statement right there shows me you know nothing about baseball. 35 y/o IF that cant hit and his 1 thing he did well in running is starting to decline. Z is only 31 and still has potential to win 10+ games under 4 ERA. Thats more usefull for the Cubs then Figgins who would hit maybe .200 10 SB as a bench player.

Look at his last 2 years. He on the DOWNHILL. Has no chance of going back up. He is WAY PAST his prime. Z makess 100% more sense then Figgins.

If ya look at Z's career, it doesn't really help your argument. He's not been so good. ERA's been bad, Ks have been going down. innings have been going down.

I understand that Figgins hasn't been so hot lately -- just saying, you could take better angles to your arguments.

Even in his first year of Seattle he hit .259 with 42 stolen bases. He can go back to that or even what he did in LA. He was hurt last year, he only played in 81 games. before last year he played over 100 games dating back to the 2004 season. But your right I know nothing about baseball. I just know how to speak proper English. :shifty:

His only argument is Z is a pitcher and the Cubs need pitching he has 1 year left instead of two and he is 31 and not 35 other then that he has no argument. A hardcore baseball fan that barely even uses stats LOL

Doesnt take stats to show that Z worth more then Figgins. I promise if SEA would be all over that trade. They would be off the hook for Figgins next year plus taking a younger player that has a chance to win 10+ games with ERA around 4 while Figgins be lucky to hit .230 with 10 SB

You dont have an argument..you just dont like Z, which i understand but doesnt mean we should take on a worse player for an extra year of a deal.

I never said Z was getting better. Z still has more upside then a 35 y/o MI that is losing his legs with age.

At this point Z probably hits better than Figgins  I like how it spilled over here instead of staying in the Z thread.

I'm less enthused about the potential of dealing Soriano than others, just because despite his struggles, Soriano has stayed professional about his game. He's a good guy who had bad luck.

Obviously, I'd like the Cubs to be free of his contract, but he's not bad right now, and probably won't be until the deal is over with.
