There's a ton of talent in Del Zotto. If Nashville can help him realize, this trade could payoff in a big way for them.

I think Nashville will elevate his game. He can play offensively. Trotz is going to turn him into such a goor two way defender. Did anyone else hear trotz say Dubnyk has picked up bad habits while playing for the oilers lol

Preds have a glut of NHL D-Men.

Now try getting some actual NHL forwards.

No fucking shit. Has there been a team without even a hint of an above average offensive forward outside of the Preds?

Forsberg was a swipe but the guy supposedly has baggage and that's why they got him at decent cost. If they keep playing at such a mediocre level they will have another high pick and will not shy away from a defenseman no matter who is on the board. Cant blame them for taking Jones last year, that kid already, imo, is in the upper tier of defenseman in the league and the more I watch him the more impressive he looks.MDZ/Jones is going to be fun to watch.

Without a doubt in my mind, Bieksa is the biggest piece of shit on the Canucks.
Bieksa is a notorious spot picker and always will be. Didn't he pick a fight with Stalberg? He got mauled when he fought the goon the Hawks had when Keith got his hair pulled, that says enough about how tough he is.

As for Torts- good for him. Nothing will ever beat the picture they showed on NHL tonight with ppl holding him back and his face as red as the Lames jerseys. The NHL needs that Keenan type.

Hadn't heard this. For future Olympics beyond this Cba? Or after the right year opt out?

Blues now have passed the Hawks, tied at 77 points with 3 games on us. Wouldn't surprise me if Colorado and San Jose catch up to us in the conference. This team is looking like a 4th-5th seed at the moment.

Among the top 8 teams in the conference, the Hawks have allowed the most goals at 154. Canucks, the 8th seed, come next with 138 goals given up. That is 16 less goals with a game on us.

Question about an NHL rule, is it legal to have a goalie take a shootout shot? Just curious. :shifty:

id imagine he can since he is replaceable by a position player when pulled. hes the 6th man. never really thought about it but imo he is eligible.

On a semi-related note .. at next year's All-Star game (none this year due to Olympics) I wish they'd let goalies skate out in periods when they weren't in the net. I'd love to see Lundqvist leading a rush up the ice.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports-content/hockey/opinion/2014/01/nhl-gms-deal-with-double-trade-deadline.html

Article is a week or so old, but still some interesting points from all around the NHL. Trade freeze starts Feb 7, so should be interesting to see if there is a "mini deadline" of sorts around the NHL.

5. The Blackhawks, by the way, recalled Brandon Pirri on Monday. He loses waiver-exempt status for next season, so it's a big moment for him and for the organization's evaluation of him. Remember, the Anaheim Ducks traded Peter Holland rather than lose him for nothing.

Blackhawks lost Stanton to waivers this off season, so definitely something to note.
