In 2011 the transition wasn't the best. as he went from an era+ of 102 to a era+ of 77 all be it in 65 innings of work. (Sample Size)
2012 was a rough year for him as a whole. whip was out of control.
2013 he had an era+ of 114 and also gave up less HRs and had more control of his pitches.
So if you want to take 2012 and claim one season as what position he is in, in a rotation than that's flat out stupid.
Now combine what I just said with his FIP to show you that he is "not" worse than a 4th starter. If you are basing this alone on just ERA or W/Ls (which I can see you doing because you seem like a real dumb fan) than....well....you are an idiot.

Even including his great 2010 season, he has had less then one good year of pitched ball. You want to throw 4 years 48 million at him. Go ahead. Your franchise would be doomed to fail like your post.

Oh and I know I would love a pitcher of his quality who hasnt thrown over 200 innings since 2010. He should do just fine in the AL East.
