Tim Dorsey is pretty damn funny too.
Fav ever? O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series (narrated by Patrick Tull, I didn't like the Simon Vance ones)

And yes, just stairs, no kitty cats here.

I've read all his novels. Gun with Occasional Music is also a good read but not worthy of favorite status.
