It seems that the rooftop owners are having their own presser soon to discuss their own renovation ideas around Wrigley Field.

"The hotel is a critical part of a more-than-$500 million plan to reinvest in Wrigley Field and the neighborhood. The Ricketts family is working to create 800 construction jobs and 1,300 full-time jobs, preserve Wrigley Field as one of the top three tourist destinations in the state and grow the ballpark’s $650 million annual economic impact to Chicago and the region."

Like I said a year ago, has to be a joint project w/other developers and owners.

I would debate the ranking of Wrigley Field as top 3 in the state of tourist destinations.

Yeah, I found that one too. I did a couple of searches and nothing definitive came up, just opinion pieces.

I would think Gurnee, Woodfield, O'Hare, Midway, Mag Mile, Brookfield Zoo

I would need to see hard data. I know Brookfield Zoo said they get 2,000,000 people to the Seven Seas which is an extra fee. I could see the Zoo doing twice that number each year, but hard to find actual data.

I'm not sure the airports should count  The other ones, sure.

Woodfield Mall is nice.

Yorktown = 10 million per year. Yep, Wrigley is not a top 3

Well, you also have to figure there are visitors outside of game days. They walk around the park, they watch games in Wrigleyville, they also take the tours when the team is out of town. I doubt it gets to 10 million but it's probably quite a good chunk of people who visit the neighborhood. The more accurate thing to say is that Wrigleyville is the attraction and not just the Cubs and Wrigley Field.

True, but that might add 500,000 tot he total and I think that would be a generous amount of people visiting the park just to see the outside or take the tour.

As a Wrigleyville resident, I am all for improvements to Wrigley, thus adding value to the neighborhood! However, I am against blocking the view from the Wrigley Rooftops! They add to the experience of Wrigley Field, and add jobs and a fun experience. Add a hotel, fine. Upgrade the amenities in and around Wrigley, fine. Block the view from the rooftops, unacceptable.

How does rooftops selling tickets to an event they do not own add to the experience inside the park?

Truth is, they don't. They are a small business who has made millions off of the Cubs, with the Cubs getting a very small percentage of their overhead. Block the rooftops view, improve the ball park, sell your own advertising and get a shit load more money to go towards improving the team.

**** the Rooftops, the Cubs are providing the product that they are making fortunes off of, while only a little has gone to the Cubs, and I don't buy that their advertising plan is anywhere near ours. But guess if we can't do anything that interferes with these filter feeders then we are out of luck ever getting a jumbotron.

The rooftops advertising plan fails in logic. The Cubs advertising plan guarantees the advertisements get on TV which generate more revenue than that of the rooftops idea where it wont always get on TV.

Failed logic all the way around. The Cubs already denied the proposal.

Can they put up a huge instant replay screen up on one of the roof tops?
