The Cubs cannot even renovate an antique messageboard,

Fact.

If you mean the scoreboard, then they almost certainly can't touch it except to repair or restore it. There are few things more symbolic of the Cubs than the marquee, the ivy and the scoreboard, because it certainly isn't their history of winning

Was referring to Cubs.com messageboard...and the doss type out-dated formatting.

So is the whole $300 million project getting done whether the city chips in or not?

From everyone there the tone seems to have been this is what they are doing not what they are planning to do. They are negotiating with the city it seems on issues still, but it would seem likely that a deal gets done.

From my basic understanding, yes, under the condition that the city lifts some of the tax restrictions.

Yeah, it'll get signed off eventually. But there may be fighting at the end to get it done.

Brett from BN gets the feeling that they're going to scrap the Triangle Building and just leave that space for open air festivals and activities.

Yes, and Cub fans will be paying for it in advance...that's why it will take 5 years.

The city's broke and ownership doesn't have pockets quite that deep.

Did anyone hear anything on the triangle Building?

Do they still plan on building it or not

On Mully and Hanley this morning they said there are no longer any plans to build the triangle building.
