I am kinda with ya Joe in preferring NHLers instead of AHLers and other developmental leaguers, but again, this is the salary cap world - the world of the NHL dynasty is over.

None of these players were worth keeping over TKK. These moves had to be made to cover their raises...remember their raises will account for something around 10 million altogether...now add another 4mil to the cap because of the bonuses to Toews and Kane and now we're looking at 14 million that has to be accounted for this upcoming year.

Sure, easier fixes make sense to us fans (Huet, Campbell), but it takes two to tango.

Maybe Bowman and McSplash have a little something else planned to help explain/justify to the band-wagoners the "dismantling" of the team. I imagine Rocky, after bringing back tons of fans his father dismissed, may not want to appear as the acorn directly next to the tree to the uninformed fan.

Maybe they will use these younger players-spects to pull off a trade for a good player.

On Huet and Waivers....my bad. Of course, only the NHL would hold a team financially hostage by not allowing a simple waiver transaction at a most important time. But nontheless, I was wrong......

When Do Waivers Operate?

The first day of the season which players are subject to waivers is twelve days prior to the start of the regular season, until the last day after the end of the team's season. It should be noted that the league resets all waiver transactions at the beginning of the next season's waiver period. So say that a player was waived and cleared waivers in the previous season, and was not re-called at any point for the remainder of the season. In the current season, that player rejoins the NHL roster and he must clear waivers again to be assigned to an AHL team.

Waivers have been on as a player has to pass in order to be bought out.

Edit: And good explanation on that as well, DHF.

no money to afford a big name guy...it would have to be a lower salary guy we get back.

a 3rd or 4th liner

It could possibly work if some of these youngsters go with a salary (Huey, Campbell).

Hey, i knew some of this was coming.

But, I didn't think it would be rapid fire.

I get wound up on trades. I've always been like that.

Sorry peeps.

I kind of expected this, I have said that we would not miss Byfuglien or Versteeg but Andrew Ladd is a complete player that is on the rise in his career who also has good size. The team will miss his services and the potential he has as a player.

Still we will move on and we got a quality prospect in return. Once all the FA deals settle I will post a thread explaining and reviewing the moves Stan has made.

I hate to see Ladd go because he was a favorite of mine, but he's just as replaceable as the rest of the guys we traded.

The Hawks are going to be fine, folks. Just sucks to lose these guys.
