32 years old in hockey is not over the hill by any stretch. Solid move, solid playoff face-off help.

Is this guy the next French goaltender that will surrender on the way to the 'Hawks winning the cup?

That poses a good question. Who was the last quebec born forward on the Hawks? Was it Goulet?

Never thought about the french canadian factor. Now I hate this trade (even though I loved Goulet).

You might be correct....but I think that some Corey guy or something like that may be the most recent. But I have been wrong before.

I'm a little surprised that Stan gave up dahlbeck and a 1st. Brings us some pretty good depth and should help with some defensive face offs. I also think he has played LW in the past, so there's a little versatility there.

Conditional 1st-rounder, or just straight-up? I feel we could've at least gotten a couple sammichs out of it. Was there any mention of sammichs?

I know nothing about hockey, but this seems to have been quite a good deal

You are learning boy!!! Learning good!!!

On paper it looks good with the attributes Vermette brings to the table but it's a risk move with the draft pick...but these kind of trades always have a risk involved sooooo....

Pretty simple actually like any sport. If Vermette helps the team it's a good deal. If he doesn't it wasn't. No real other way to look at it. It's a waiting game now and one side of the good or bad debate will have their epic moments in the sun to say "we told you so"!!

And a key point to remember in all of these deals is that any draft picks that the Hawks have surrendered can likely be re-acquired when they have to shed salary this summer. Sharp could easily fetch a first-round pick.

You can't win with certain "fans."
If Stan stands pat then people will accuse him of being an inept GM.
Stan makes moves, he's a shithead because he gave up too much in draft picks/prospects.

I can think of a couple here that will be the first to pounce.

You have to trade something if you expect to get anything significant and you are in competition with other teams for the same players. Is it a desperate move? Yeah a little but with Kane out you need something to keep things moving. If we can make it through the first round thanks to these moves the draft picks won't mean shit.

Late 1st rounders are still a shot at drafting and owning the rights to one of the best 30 players of that draft year. It's also why teams like the Red Wings are still relevant and in the hunt every year.

How dare you do some proper research and then callously share your accurate findings. Enough of your properly informed...information.

Yeah, I think about 2 pages back I admit that I made a mistake, something I doubt 90% of anyone else would be willing to admit.

Thought we moved past this when I admitted it. Fuckin aye.
