Season is just a week away, thank God, because I think I've just about given up on the current NFL season from a Chicago perspective already.

With that in mind, I wanted to see if there's anything specific you fine posters would like to see us do to help foster some good hockey discussion this year. This will be the first full season following the IHN/CCS merger, I thought that went rather well, and would like to keep things moving forward for everyone.

Let me know in here or via PM.

I don't mean to speak for Rush and/or Zack, but I know they're almost always looking for good Blackhawks writers on the site. I've put together some articles here and there but don't always have the time to commit to writing for them. If any of you have interest in that, I imagine they'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for being a part of the forum, here's hoping we've got another deep playoff run to discuss in 2015-16.

Go Hawks.

Someone should start Hockey Foodblog threads... or maybe just 1 season long Foodblog thread.... It won't be the same as before, but he can live on with this tradition.

If you want to foster good hockey discussion, you have to have people that are willing to do so. Personally, I'd like to see this site/section/board/etc take a little bit of a harder stance when it comes to ridiculous trolling, personal insults, the same stupid old jokes in every thread, etc etc. It is just a few that are doing it (and then others jump on board) but it typically seems like it ruins it for those who want to discuss hockey and the Blackhawks. At the end of the day, it makes it really hard to talk hockey and enjoy the website when you have to read through 9 posts of nothing related to the subject just to get to the 1 worthwhile post. I get it that things are going to get off subject from time to time which is fine, but since the merger it has gotten 10 times worse. Just my thought on how to improve and make this board more enjoyable. Maybe I'm in the minority here (and that is fine) but figured I would toss it out there.

You can have a HawkWriter subforum all to yourself....no jokes, no trolling, just hockey discussion.... it will resemble the Fire Forum... you post the threads... you reply to the threads.... will be awesomesauce

Why don't you head back to HFBoards and continue arguing that Kane hosted a rape party and may have held her down while it happened as the only logical explanation of the DNA results.

Agree 100%. I remember a football forum on another site that had this problem years ago, so they split it into two forums. A general team forum where anything goes, and a "serious football discussion only" forum, where trolling and sniping wasn't tolerated. That would be a good start.

I appreciate you guys helping to prove my point. As I said, I may be in the minority here and if I am, then that is absolutely fine. From time to time, I have no problem with going through the "junk" posts to read what others have to say about the Blackhawks, NHL, or hockey in general. Clearly I'm still here posting (albeit not as often as before) so it is worth it to some extent but I would love to see more hockey talk and less of this back/forth, off topic, "junk" posting.

I would like to see an emphasis put on how the Rockford team is doing, and our prospects in general. Maybe someone could do weekly updates, and put together a list of the top prospects in our system.

He never did that in here but as long you don't turn that into some sort of vigil thread have at it. Food is good.

Icehogfan was so good at this when he was around, but haven't seem him post in a few years. I live about 2 hours from Rockford so I don't ever get a chance to see their games. Even a drive up to the Allstate Arena when they play the Wolves is too far for me to do too often.

Figured this would happen because Internet.

Before we added the IHN posters and before a few current posters joined on this place was damn close to the Fire forum, actually. I don't think there was a thread in this forum that I didn't start for about 4 months and it wasn't in the offseason.

That being said, I understand the complaints about the trend for a lot of trolling. I will say that one of the people about whom I received a lot of complaints isn't going to be around this season. But I'm not going to start recklessly banning people and locking/trashing threads, either. There's gotta be a way for us to come closer to finding a middle ground between. I realize that's probably a bit too idealistic for the Internet, but let's pretend to give it a shot anyway.

One suggestion I have for those who are looking for more hockey talk in here (and I believe this is something I've suggested to people via PM) is to start more threads. Not saying we need it like the Bears forum where 25 people come on after a game and share their thoughts in their own thread. But it seems like the IGTs are the only threads that get started during the season and I know there's more discussion available than what is confined to those threads. Do that, and let's see what happens.

Question related to bigfoot's post: does anyone know if there's a way to watch the Ice Hogs games on TV/Internet? I know that their games against the Wolves get broadcast in the Chicagoland area but I believe those are the only ones. And those broadcasts tend to be from a Wolves-centric POV anyway.

Hockeystreams or the official AHL stream

Speaking of streams I just saw NHL live offers a team specific package for a bit less per season. So if you don't really want to watch any other team you can get the Blackhawks only a bit cheaper.

I was hoping for something that was either free or part of a TV package that I was already paying for. Figured I was out of luck though. Damn.

Without paying money, I've never seen a way to watch Icehogs games. Their youtube channel occasionally put up game highlights so at least that was visible but no free streaming site I ever saw has AHL games. Just only really was able to watch Wolves vs Icehog games.

If I refrain from derailing threads and angering other posters, will some of you get off of my back everytime I post something? No more "tribar is in high school" BS.

I don't want a continuation of what happened at the end of last season. I'm sure most of you agree.

Also, can we lock any "Toews is a terrible captain" threads?
