If I refrain from derailing threads and angering other posters, will some of you get off of my back everytime I post something? No more "tribar is in high school" BS.

I don't want a continuation of what happened at the end of last season. I'm sure most of you agree.

Perhaps you shouldn't suggest a deal where you intend to improve the quality of your posts, you should just do it. My $. 02.

Also, can we lock any "Toews is a terrible captain" threads?

All threads will be handled on an individual basis.

Dmelt - this isn't because of the "internet" or lack of threads. Right now, it just is what it is with the way this forum hands out infractions/bans. I don't think we have to go wild but there is nothing wrong with attempting to weed out the idiots who continually can't keep it on subject and offer little to the hockey talk. A few bad apples can ruin it for the whole bunch sometimes (or maybe they are just ruining it for me). Was just my simple opinion. There was plenty of good hockey talk a year or so ago, but it has gone to the way of the trolls more and more. Some of the threads we have on the main page are complete troll threads and they are still allowed to be put up and kept up. Flat out, some of the responses in this thread are just proof to my original post and I think anyone can see that.

One thing I wanted to see last year was almost the opposite of creating more threads. I feel like there are several stories that aren't news worthy but are probably worthy of a post. A simple "Blackhawks Team Discussion" or "Blackhawks in the News" as a sticky would allow for these links, ideas, thoughts, etc to be posted that aren't thread worthy but are maybe worthy of a good ready or a quick mention. I don't think we need a thread for every single time a player is sent down, brought up, has the flu, is doing a signing, etc but having a catch all type of thread might allow for these quick posts.

Melt could we also have one poster chosen as the official news thread of the week starter. Just put the news for that week in one thread

We've got different memories of what CCS was like a year ago. Guess we'll agree to disagree on that.

And I guess I should rephrase my point about more threads. Not more threads just for the sake of more threads, but more quality threads on quality topics. You're right, we don't need a thread on every single piece of news on the team because not all of it is discussion-worthy. But if you see a player scuffling in 3 or 4 games, start a thread about it. If there's a line combo you'd like to see the Hawks try, start a thread about it. Right now as I'm scrolling through our old threads, the only ones that I see are IGTs and injury discussion. That's it. If people want better discussion, they need to find ways to create that discussion. we can step in when we see people intentionally derailing threads. But if those threads never get started, there's not much we can do.

Haha while I do like that idea how many volunteers do you think we'll get for that? Long season.

Well when you graduate, no one will make fun of your age anymore.

Not gonna happen, bozo.

Already done.

On a serious note, we should have the Hossa countdown to 500 goals. It will probably happen this season, barring injury-- and it would be great to see accomplished on home ice. Let's get the counter going.

I could do a predictions contest like we did on IHN that include prizes for top 3.

HawkWriter and Italianbeef are ineligible to participate due to their whinybitch factor.

Tribar is ineligible due to he's under 18.
Can't get CCS in trouble.

I think we could also have a preseason prediction thread and a CCS Power Rankings. The Power Rankings can be voted on starting every Sunday, tallied to be posted Monday afternoon.
Brought to you by Tonka.

The problem is that many here seems to have a history going back years. They even hang out outside the forum. As a result, there is no real moderation here because after all, who wants to moderate their "buds"?

Go read some of Grimson's posts on HFBoards - that's the Eddie Haskell in front of Mrs. Cleaver version. Here, it's the version that flicks everyone in the ear, breaks windows with rocks, and lights bags of shit on fire on front porches, because there are no repercussions.

Some of our histories go back over a decade. It doesn't mean I know how to send a PM or a warning if things get too personal or out of line.
So, please-- keep assuming.
I've said it before, and I'll type it again: When we moderate we're nazis, when we let things go we're playing favorites (to certain eyes). I prefer the latter of the former (in term of moderating), because I assume we're all adults and know how to create a decent environment for one another, and we should be able to resolve diferences before a person PMs another to tell them they're waiting in Wicker Park. Disagreements happen, and it's interesting to see (and annoying at times) to see how a group (of mostly dudes) irons out their differences.

Just because I share beers with people outside this forum doesn't overly bias me when things (rarely) get serious.

I threw in a few ideas to get some discussion brewing in this forum.
What ideas do you have?

It's also time to replace "Sad Face Toews" in the main forum.

I like the prediction threads we had at IHN for what it's worth. You know most goals, most assists, most points, most PM, that type of stuff.

Also Grimson did a decent job at IHN with game day threads when he wanted to.
