If I refrain from derailing threads and angering other posters, will some of you get off of my back everytime I post something? No more "tribar is in high school" BS.

I don't want a continuation of what happened at the end of last season. I'm sure most of you agree.

That's not good enough for Grimson.
I'll start the season prediction thread for the NHL.

Some of our histories go back over a decade. It doesn't mean I know how to send a PM or a warning if things get too personal or out of line.
So, please-- keep assuming.
I've said it before, and I'll type it again: When we moderate we're nazis, when we let things go we're playing favorites (to certain eyes). I prefer the latter of the former (in term of moderating), because I assume we're all adults and know how to create a decent environment for one another, and we should be able to resolve diferences before a person PMs another to tell them they're waiting in Wicker Park. Disagreements happen, and it's interesting to see (and annoying at times) to see how a group (of mostly dudes) irons out their differences.

Just because I share beers with people outside this forum doesn't overly bias me when things (rarely) get serious.

I threw in a few ideas to get some discussion brewing in this forum.
What ideas do you have?

I already gave my idea to split into two forums - one serious, the other a romper room/anything goes forum. What really needs to be done to stimulate hockey talk during a hockey season? We have game threads and people start threads where there's player or team news. HawksWriter nailed it - the trolling derails and ruins most threads. Clean that up, this would be a fine forum.

BTW, are you sure the Wicker Park meetup was going to be a violent one?

It depends on how super cereal some of these CCS posters are.

Lots of whining about trolls and people wanting substance.

Biggest issues is the season ended back in June, and this has been a relatively quiet off season (outside of the Saad trade, Sharp trade and Kane rape allegations). When the season gets going, there will be more to discuss instead of people going back and forth on the same subject for 4 months.

I think this forum is ran fine and the mods do a good job. If people can't get along with other posters just use that handy ignore feature. If you don't use it, you're knowingly asking for any issues you get involved in with someone you can't get along with.

IGTs, a team discussion thread, maybe a prospects thread (though we have a forum for it, might as well just merge it into a single thread), and that's all the Blackhawks forum needs.

DMelt I disagree with people doing their own after game threads. This place would become too difficult to follow and posts would be scattered, hence why the IGTs are great because they work well for after games.

I think Trev should be the mod in this forum if Mass continues to be MIA.

Lets be positive. I can tone down the vulgarity and increase the creativity. I love hearing actual hockey thoughts as opposed to people trying to make me pop. Disagreement is great, condescending arrogance sucks.

Some good ideas in this thread, I personally like topics easily broken down into thread titles rather than mass mess in one thread.

Recent news sticky possible, love the IGT: with lineup sticky we already do, Foodgameblog seems fracturing and if desired combine with IGT.. IGT and Foodgameblog. Going back and forth to follow conversation seems like a bummer. If we are all present on gameday lets be in the same place, and feel free to share what you are eating in the game thread?

What is required of Article Volunteers? You want 60 minutes journalism or polished write ups on Blackhawks topics?

Is my sarcasm detector broken? That's like saying "this has been a relatively quiet summer in Hiroshima (outside of the 15 kiloton atomic bomb exploding over the city)".

No, there wasn't any sarcasm there.

Let's see... Kane allegedly committed rape/sexual assault against a female. Only other confirmed reports are that her mother faked someone giving her part of the rape kit anonymously and her attorney dropped out. So while its big news, nothing else has really been discussed much on the forums.

When I was one of the admins of IHN, our slowest months were July to October just due to it being a slow off season especially after the 1st week of FA. It's not like the NFL where even in the off season the league is doing something (draft, OTAs, Rookie camp).

At least with a hockey season, there are multiple things happening such as injuries, call ups, bad decision making by players/coaches, lines not working, lines gelling, PP observations, PK observations, Crawford hate, Bickell hate, Roszival hate then love, etc.

Basically there are more than one single topic to be discussed, so we have multiple topics going on and different discussions and more people get involved.

Propose this for the forum, in terms of handling daily news updates:

We'll post a team discussion thread that will be stickied all season long. Any threads of player updates (such as line changes, notable players being sent to/from Rockford, etc.) will be given time as individual threads and the merged into the main thread once the discussion has run its course. That way people who log into the forum can see the latest news easily, but without clogging up the forum too much.

Sound good?
