For me its giving up a guilty pleasure or three, just to count other blessings and maybe have less distractions. It's not a rule, it's just maybe a little sacrifice of things to enjoy the feast of the sacrifice more when Easter is observed.

I will drink beer on sundays and maybe vodka here and there but no beer because I really like beer.
