It's not if but when some idiot is going to try and kill you. I was hit from behind while stopped at a red light. I used to review each days ride with a caveat for how many people tried to kill me today. Its crazy how many times someone just didn't see me and i had to react to avoid contact. When on a motorcycle you need to be actively driving when other humans are around.
All that being said I loved riding and will own another someday. Probably a "old man" touring style bike.

I don't have the balls anymore after my crash. Cost me years and too damn many trips to the OR. Also I saw how my fun put my family at risk.

I guess Im lucky..I started riding a Cushman Scooter when I was 10, and got my first bike at 16. Been riding ever since, and never had one accident. I fell once cause there was gasoline on Archer Ave and when I accelerated the rear wheel spun out from under me...But thats been it..I had a few close calls, but so far Im accident free...Now, I probably jinxed myself...lol

I've never had an accident either. I did fall over in my driveway though cuz I was drunk one time.

My cousin lost his leg and my nephew broke his back and was in traction 6 months. But I did ride a moped in Bermuda. Does that count?
