My brother's in the Navy. No other family in the military though.

edit: whoops. both my grandpa's served. One was in the Navy and the other was in the Army I believe.

The one in the Navy said he was too short to join so he stood on his tippie toes when they were measuring him hahaha.

First, I did dislike you for your commy answer. Cause neggin someone for that reason is just damn funny. So relax. Second this is Memorial Day, so in mind of that here's a big **** YOU to
everyone who has anything bad to say about those who serve. Is our country screwed up? Yes... Has it gotten drastically worse over the last few years? Yes. But no one, NO ONE should ever have anything but good things to say to veterans and service members. Again bearshomer..on behalf of America on Memorial Day...**** YOU. Oh, and the dislike with the communist reason was a joke. Well deserved, but a joke.
Veterans selfishly wasted my money so they could wipe their asses with the constitution fighting illegal wars that put the US in danger, all to empower special interest groups that make money off war.

They deserve to catch all kinds of shit,
u piece of shit if u were standing in front of me id push your fuckin teeth in

Please don't.

There is a place to discuss politics on the forum.

Anyways, I'm of the school of thought that doesn't thank veterans on Memorial Day, but those we have lost while serving. I'm the sole living member of my first squad, and as much as I have deprogrammed myself from my Ranger Bat days, I have a hard time getting through all of the reminders that come with this day. The best friend that I ever had, and other brothers in arms. This day is to remind us all.

I used to get coffee with this guy named Joe who use to come into my gym. I think he's 85 or so now, but we talked about growing up in Chicago when he was a kid, etc etc.

He got on the subject of the war and I just asked him if he signed up. He did. Marines. He went on to tell me that he just turned 18 years old and found himself on both Guam and 2nd wave machine gunner on Iwo Jima. The horror that man must have witnessed still makes me upset. I just wanted to give him a hug when he told me that(he never talked about the military). I read With The Old Breed around this time he told me about the Pacific. And man, that book literally kept me up at nights. I remember reading one chapter, getting up and being so shaken by the book I had to splash some water on my face and found myself man tearin.

Love my brothers in the military.

Whether you support whatever war we were or are in you should still show respect to our troops. You must really hate Obama as he has invaded the most countries out of all the recent presidents.

First and foremost thanks to all that serve and to their families for their sacrifices.

inchibearfan, is this really a good thread to take a shot at the President? IMO that's weak, not as bad as homer, but weak as hell. So is thanking this partisan hack bullshit. Stay classy CCS.

Your salute to fallen soldiers is actually correct. Someone mentioned to me today that it sort of is a pet peeve with all the salutes to current soldiers on this holiday. Memorial Day is set aside for remembering soldiers lost in war, while veterans day is for all past military. I hadn't really thought about the holiday distinctions for some time, but thought it was something interesting to remember.
