I was just having a little fun with that comment, but you call me a meathead?

Are you pretending for one minute that you and Silence didn't praise and defend Castro endlessly? You think nobody remembers that? Don't even try to pretend you weren't completely irrational in your evaluation of Castro and anyone who threatened to take his playing time.

You're going to deny that, and I am the meathead? Not even close!
You were very wrong as to when Castro got traded. Should we necro that thread or the many?

When you essentially say "I'm glad someone resurrected this thread " you're cheering the trolling meathead who necroed it.

I was right on Castro. Management agreed with me. He is gone and we are a smart, good team.

That conversation is over.

Can I ask a couple of dumb out of towner questions - and sorry if they're really dumb.

Would Schwarber ever go back behind the plate? He's clearly not a strong defensive outfield player and he came up as a catcher? Is Montero tradeable?

Lots of people on here talking about trading Castro, but since he moved to 2ndB he seems to have greatly improved. If he was traded who goes to 2nd, and I guess more importantly, if you have a strong 2ndB player is that of greater value than having him as a counterbalance in a trade for a better starting pitcher?

Is cap space an issue for the Cubs this year. As people all agree FA pitching is deep this year. Would there be value/opportunity to just buy in pitching rather than trading - or is trading better?

Sorry, if these are stupid, just trying to understand where the team is in terms of making moves.

yeah...I think you go Contreras at catcher with Schwarber his back-up. You can get other at bats for both if you continue to use contreras in LF/3B and Schwarber at LF. I think you settle him down and tell him to be careful, no need to get one ball here and there. Just cover his area, put heyward next to him in center, and have him get out of the way.

Soler in right field, and Soler/Schwarber and heyward can't be any worse so will hit better next year. Would take them all to replace Fowler.

Whatever, the Cubs will be in good shape for the next 5 years is whats clear. They are loaded with talent, assets, and capable back-ups as well as decent money and great managing. They might only have a 1 in 4 chance, but they are going to have a 1 in 4 chance the next 4 years as well. I hope its this year, it feels right, but I would just like to see it for the city of chicago.

We were a smart. good team last year. Management agreed that they wanted Zobrist over Castro. I highly doubt they agree that he sucks and will never be on a winning team like you beat your chest too. lol I like when people brag and they arent correct.

Schwaber has put on a lot of weight since the surgery. He is not a candidate for catcher. Soler will be traded

No you weren't. You ruined lots of game threads whining about Castro note even belonging in the MLB. The Yankees haven't cut him. I think they are a MLB club. The reason Castro was traded was because the Cubs had the surprising opportunity to sign Zobrist. It sure didn't have to do with Baez or he would have been traded sooner, as he wasn't part of the core.

Baez made a lot of errors back then. Fact! You're almost as much of a meathead as FirstTimer taking posts out of context.

LOL @ this and taking anything you said out of context. You advocated trading Baez for situational hitting.

Baez right now has two of the biggest situational hits in Cubs history.

You're now just parroting what I said a year ago about how the Cubs/Maddon feels about Baez.

You mad bruh?

BTW,

Still waiting on that Cubs trade from last year for a "young cost controlled pitcher" you predicted.

Worst post in Cubs forum history?

They have been in talks with numerous teams for this. The Rays being one at the deadline. Teams wanted Baez and they refused. The Padres wanted Baez plus for Pomeranz and the cubs scoffed at them. The Cubs are actively trying to trade for a young-cost controlled arm and I would assume they will pick up talks again in the winter.

My wife said she would leave me for Baez if given the opportunity. HAHAHAHA

The amount of ass this team pulls in a city like Chicago has to be unreal.

Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Contreras, Arrieta, etc have to be just slaying strange. My buddies joke that you know the Cubs are back in town because there are a bunch of women walking around bow legged.
