Albert Pujols is currently hitting .296 with 34 HR and 85 RBI. He has 24 games left to get 15 more RBI and up his average and be the only MLB player I know of to have a .300 batting average, 30+ HR and 100+ RBI in every season he's played. And this is an off-year.

He also has 90 runs scored, which is pretty cool considering he has 100+ runs scored in every season except one (99 a few years back) because his teammates usually suck.

Not exactly earthshattering because these are the standard bubble gum card stats, but still very cool.

And that's crazy to think he is getting older and still putting up big numbers. He hasn't even started to really show a decline yet. Which is kinda why I don't really want the Cubs to go for this guy unless they plan to win in year one or two with this guy. Also wasn't it rumored he could be like 35 yrs old? Nobody knows his actual age? I would almost prefer Prince over Pujols. Just because of the age/years in league difference.

As if to rub salt in the wounds, backup catcher George Kottaras hit for the cycle against the Astros to help eliminate the Cubs from NL Central contention. Atlanta decided it didn't want to win, so the elimination number in the NL Wild Card is still 2.

Find this VERY INTERESTING!!!!!!!!!!!!

@BarryRozner
Barry Rozner Philly Asst GM Chuck LaMar abruptly resigns a month before playoffs. He's a former GM, comes from winner. Sounds like a Tom Ricketts guy.

@BarryRozner
Barry Rozner As AGM, Player Development & Scouting, LaMar worked closely with Ryne Sandberg, who took his team to the playoffs, which start tomorrow.

BarryRozner
Barry Rozner Scouting director Tim Wilken was special assistant to GM Chuck LaMar in TB for three years.

He'll be 32 in January. He's probably got 4 years before he really begins to decline, and he'll still be a force to reckon with for probably 6-7 years. I just don't think giving him a contract for $30M per for that long is a good idea.

Brett Pill of the San Francisco Giants has 2 HRs in through his first 2 major league games. Giants should've called him up months ago. Maybe he'd have 70 or 80 homers and the Giants would be in first in the NL West. :lol:

That's cool. He's a teammate of my former hs baseball teammate then. Ben Revere.

Now the question is, what other team(s) in MLB history never hit a grand slam in a season?
