Verlander is at 84 pitches entering the fifth inning. He will need to finish up this half-inning and the team will need to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to get him a win as I don't think he has much more left and it'd be stupid to have him keep going just to get a meaningless W.

Are they sending Verlander out for the 7th? He's got 100 pitches. I wouldn't risk it...

That's not the point. Detroit has clinched and will probably be playing an AL East team. Why risk injury to get a meaningless W?

If injury was a concern he wouldn't have pitched at all

I think he should've been on a more stringent pitch count. Plus if he wanted a win he should've thought about not giving up the two homers

Oh well no 25 game winner. He has the triple crown as krenshaw does (not sure that has ever happened before in both leagues for the same season)

He's my MVP in the AL

He wouldn't be a bad choice for MVP. I think a position player will win it though.

At least Verlander won't get a loss. His team should buy him dinner.

Actually Verlander should buy his team dinner. You don't deserve a W if you give up five runs to the fucking Orioles

Wow Verlander. Dude has won what? Like 13 straight? I told my brother I predict a Tigers vs Phillies World Series. We'll see. I don't feel like Google, so who was the last to win 24+ games?
