LOL at Washington, giving up a goal to Tampa with a minute left and costing them at least a point.

Buffalo remains two points behind with a game in hand for the 8 seed in the East.

1 game for Quincy's flying elbow on Kopecky. Glad Pecker is ok, but uno? :/

Big game tonight with Edmonton taking on LA. The Kings can get a firm hold on the 3 seed with a win.

That leap was quite damning.

Yeah, it wasn't good but it felt like he was committed to the check despite not being close enough/in position to deliver a proper one.

Add that to Kopecky lunging forward and it's not a pretty result. I think it certainly turned out worse than Quincey intended and the refs hammered him appropriately.

Panthers are on the verge of returning to the playoffs for the first time in 12 years.

tallon is the man

More credit goes to the Southeast division which is absolutely mediocre at best this year. Panthers are 7th in the East in points, all while getting to play against one of the worse divisions routinely.

Tallon definitely added a lot...but I don't think he helped the team longterm with a lot of those deals which will most likely come back and bite him in the ass.

Horrific division. I'd be surprised if the Panthers go beyond game 5 in the playoffs.

There will probably be some bad paper there, sure, but it will only hamstring him if Sunrise further opens the pocketbook.

Not true at all. Tallon is in fine position with contracts.

Right now as a team that wildly overachieved well beyond anyone's expecations? Everything looks great. Longterm could be trouble though (which is what Hawkwriter said).

Once you make the playoffs, expectations go up. Looking at their page on capgeek- Tallon is going to have a lot of work to do this summer yet again.

Garrison is due for a LARGE raise.
Versteeg will get a raise.
What's their goaltending situation moving forward.
Will Huberdeau make the roster next year.

Dale's going to once again have lots of holes to fill and with raised expectations- he's going to have to put together an even better team. Resigning guys is one thing but being able to bring in a legitimate (much needed) offensive star? That costs money.

I'm not saying he's in terrible shape or that he's got a cakewalk coming up. But when you have a turd of a contract like Jovanovski making $4.1mil for 3 more years and you know you can't spend the bare minimum on goaltending going forward... things could get dicey.

Im looking farther than next year, im looking 2 plus years. Next year could be a bit tougher, but after that he should be able to construct what he wants. Jovanowskis deal isnt all that bad considering ALOT of the contracts around the league including the hawks. It isnt one of the bigger markets like Chicago so pressure of expectations shouldnt be as much as a concern as it would be somewhere else.

yes they are in a weaker division, it still DOES NOT change the fact that they are going to the playoffs, something that the panthers are NOT used to.

72 Points in last in the east and 1 year later at 91 points. Alot has to do with Tallon.

Don't worry, you don't have to sell me on Tallon.

I'm hugely impressed by what he's done in Florida. Weak division or not, he successfully performed a team rebuild in 1 summer. That's unheard of. The fact that he did it with spare parts and casts offs makes it even more impressive. Just wait til he can develop talent and bring in legitimate free agents...

The guy unquestionably has an eye for talent and even more than that, I think he knows how to build a team and an organization-wide atmosphere that lends itself to winning (as ridiculous as that sounds). Brian Campbell mentioned that last part early this year and we've all read the "hawks locker room isnt great" stuff (which I take with a huge grain of salt) these past 2 seasons without Dale around.

Long story short, the guy knows what he's doing.
