Preds trade 1st rounder and Jokinen and a prospect to Toronto for Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli. Pretty damn good trade for them, solidifies their already great blue line and gives them a pretty good forward as well. Like the Penguins, going all in to win now.

I don't think anyone can tell me the Oilers weren't tightening up on their sticks and didn't have their head on on a swivel after this, especially since it was their heavy getting crushed.

Good clean, solid shoulder check. I like how the first reaction by the annoucers is it was a quasi-dirty hit until they go back and look at the replay. I loved Buff when he was a Blackhawk. I'll bet Dallas Drake still has nightmares...

That's at least 500 pounds of brute force colliding.

The puck was there, was shoulder to shoulder contact, and he didn't charge him. Clean hockey hit, though I'm very surprised with how pussified the NHL has been they didn't call a penalty on this.

Sharks have been sucking lately. I think they're something like 2-8 over their last 10. Don't quote me on the numbers though.

Edit: Or maybe it was they've only won 2 of their last 8?

First and a prospect for sekera is might high in my opinion but what do i know. Kings got what they needed but a first? Oiiiiiii vaiiiii.

That set the standar for what will now be a very quiet trade deadline. Sekera is good but first round good? Not sure about that.

It's a great trade for Toronto... I guess CBJ get a player who actually is suited up, but that's not a valuable body

Agent: "You're not going to believe this, but you got traded to a great hockey town"

Horton: "Where?! Chicago, Detriot, New York, back to Boston?!?!"

Agent: "Uhhh, er, no.... Toronto..."

Horton: " *aahcooo* Yep, there goes the back again, I'm retiring..."

Columbus doesnt have the type of money to pay a guy like what Horton is getting to not play. Toronto has mountains of disposable cash. Toronto needs cap space and seeing as Horton is questionable to ever return from LTIR, they basically bought themselves cap space that they need and got rid of dead weight in Clarkson. It was actually a good trade for both teams, helps them both out. Columbus may not be getting a good player, but it's at least someone who will be playing for them.

If Clarkson plays anywhere close to what he was doing with the Devils, before he signed his big FA K, it'll be better than paying Horton while he sat on the sidelines. Maybe the pressure of an Ontario player returning home Toronto, with the glare of the big market press 24/7, was too much for Clarkson and he'll play better in Columbus' smaller market.

...I'm sure that's what CBJ wants.

Agree but clarkson isnt that good to begin with. But he should be better in columbus. Bit more suited to his style. No media in columbus to bash him but i think in toronto noonis was getting more of the bashing for that contract. Clarkson has a place in the nhl but i think we all feel that contract was just way too heavy.

Remember TCD, CBJ now in the East. Agree with the rest. It's the Leafs fault for offering him that K.
