I know most of you are just going to make humorous remarks and suggest inappropriate items, but I'm hoping there are a few of you out there who can give me some honest responses. We are trying to set up a baby registry for items and there is so much shit to choose from we don't even know what to put on it, or why we are putting stuff on it. We've read a bunch of reviews on items but they all seem to null each other out and tend to have a lot of corporate sounding fake reviews.

I'm hoping that folks can suggest items that we should make sure to get, or features on items that we should make sure to have. And hopefully save us time, money and hassle as we prepare for our first one. Links are always welcome. I think she finally chose Target and Be By Baby? Personally, I told her just to go with Amazon, but I have to compromise somewhere I guess.

Thanks in advance.

I know many people like those hooded bath towels. Personally I think you should ask for some of that Monkey Butt diaper rash stuff. I have also found that many people like to ask for diapers so they can stockpile them.

A lightweight stroller for air travel and another heavy duty one for 'all-terrain'. Multiple car seats so you don't have to move your only one from car to car.

I haven't seen the Monkey Butt, I'll look for that, I was thinking about diapers too, but we might go with a cloth service, they seem cheaper actually for what I've found. I'm still researching which are good. Plus I'm thinking diapers I can get and have to get so I'd hate to waste people getting us gifts on stuff like diapers, and clothes especially cause I know people are going to get those anyway and I won't like have the shit they get.

We got a hooded bath towel for one of our friends and their kid loved it so I think I'll try to find one for our girl.

Yeah I hate big strollers as it is, they really bother me, especially the baby SUVs. And we only have one car so that will be nice.

Pretty high reviews all around too, and surprisingly to me ToysRus has one of the better prices. I always thought of them as way over prices but I haven't paid attention to them in years.

Don't forget all the little items that easily get overlooked like thermometer, medicine spoons or droppers and nail clippers. And ask for clothing in different sizes. You don't want all newborn stuff.

I wonder if there is a baby kit that has all that crap in it... hah. We have so many clothes already it's just getting ridiculous.

If your going to get baby furniture for the home, I'd recommend skipping the changing table. Just get a crib, a rocking chair and maybe a dresser. We never used the the changing table. More often than not diapers were changed on the sofa, bed, or carpeted floor. Go unisex on the colors/designs. We bought new for our 1st child and recycled it for the next 2 kids. Some of the "boy" styled strollers, baby seats looked odd with my daughter. Not a big deal really. I also found the novelty of buying everything new wore off quick. We were on a budget at the time and excepted hand me down clothes and toys from friends/family after aboot a month. Stock up on diapers and formula. That shit gets expensive quick and I assume your not getting WIC to provide formula. Even better consider nursing, its free, delicious, and good for you (the baby as well). Oh...You will never seem to have enough spit up towels or onesies.

How about one of those "Beer of the month" clubs.

Ya know.....to help with your stress. It's not all about "THE BABY".

Awesome information, Very good to know, I think she did have a changing table on the list but it doubled as a dresser I'll have to double check and pass it all along. We will definitely be nursing... I want to convince her that freezing all the extra and selling it like the people in Cali is a good idea! haha. need to get some of this money back.

Another excellent suggestion... but for some reason, I can't find it on target to add to the registry.

If your going to nurse consider renting a commercial/professional grade breast pump from a durable medical equipment company. It will be worth the expense. The cheap deaprtment store ones just aren't very good and tend to be painful. The nursing consultant at the hospital you delivery at can probably help with that item. It will be very useful.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers

IMHO getting one of those car seats that goes from infant to kindergarten should be tops on the priority list.

Other than that, I'd say the standard inappropriate items: lawn darts, woodburning kit, chemistry set

Hahah any suggestion on brand?

Also, are there overhyped baby brands in general to go for or stay away from? I saw some Fischer Price stuff and was like... that doesn't look as good as I remember it being when I was younger.

Don't forget a booger snatcher to suction out their nose. I'm not sure what they are really called. Wino can probably tell you.
