Most experts consider bacon the premium breakfast cut of the pig. The national average for a package of bacon is $7.24.

Sausage is considered the step-down in quality. The national average for a package of sausage is only $3.99.

What am I missing?

Bacon is elite with all the qualities that are needed to be the star and difference maker of any breakfast. Sausage only shows out in a poor breakfast, and is easily targeted as the weak "link" when surrounded by superior talent like Belgian Waffle or Crepe Suzette. I mean it's more easily exposed and is more like floppy gross Canadian bacon than savory crisp pancetta.

Sausage is way better than bacon as a stand alone breakfast meat. Bacon should be used more as an enhancer. On top of a cheeseburger, bits in a salad, wrapped around a steak or shrimp.

I love all breakfast meats and don't discriminate. Both have their place. If I'm ordering a brekkie sandwich somewhere - I will usually opt for sausage depending on the place. Feel like a lot of places use cheap ass bacon.

If I'm making brekkie at home - I'll opt for some thick cut bacon from a deli (way better than the prepackaged stuff and totally worth the extra money).

Would be the only expert opinion @DanielCCSBears could provide. Based on his work, we sure as shit know it's not anything football related
@JordanSigler headline: Bears refuse to pay for elite breakfast food at the going rate. As usual, cheap McCaskeys settle on lesser breakfast talent. National media hated Halas Hall brunch accused of tanking.
