How in the hell can they afford Trent Williams? Reading that he'll want ~$20m / year & 2-3 years min? So dump ARob AND all hopes of Wilson/Watson to be feasible.

Wouldn't it be better to re-sign Ifedi or any of a dozen average Ts on the cheap then draft another T in 1st or 2nd, or draft 2 Ts, and still have options for ARob &/or QB? DMonty and the entire offense will be grateful.

FWIW - I fully support 2 new Ts as the primary need if Wilson/Watson don't move, even if drafting a mid-round QB, then going big for QB in 2022's 1st Rd.

If you sign Williams you cut Leno. With a late designation that’s 9 mil saved. Extend a few guys and it’s really not that hard to create the space.

I thought of this yesterday and heard it on the score this morning.
If Pace can't go all in on a QB which seems likely, maybe their plan B is to go all in on upgrading the tackles and bring in Dalton to be a better game manager than Mitch was and hope they can squeak out a 9 win year and save their jobs.
Williams at LT, pick #20 at RT, get another real RB and let Lazor call the plays permanently.
Sexy, no but their options are limited.
2021 is all about saving their jobs no matter how they do it.

Personally, I don’t think spending money on an aging LT and bringing in Dalton will save Paces job. If they draft a QB and he comes in and shows promise there’s a chance he’s saved. If I’m George, in my mind I’m thinking Pace is gone unless he signs Wilson/Watson.

Nine wins wont save their jobs. They barely escaped the axe after making the playoffs with eight wins this year. I think its either NFC North title or a playoff run to the conference championship, anything less and they're both out.

Also, like I said, if they sign Trent Williams they'll have no realistic way of fitting Allen Robinson II's franchise tag figure under the cap.

with this ownership, I wouldn't be so sure.

If they signed TW, they could cut Leno post 6/1 and save 9mil right there so they could definitely finagle it and still keep Arob.
Pace's contract is up and Nagy has one year left. These guys aren't really trying to not get fired, they're more trying to win their jobs back.

If they bring in two stud offensive tackles (who actually play like studs in a Bears uniform) with this interior line I bet the rookie they draft will be successful. People will harp constantly about how the Bears have never had a great quarterback, well in my lifetime they've never really had a great line either.

What have I been saying the past few days in every thread.

Same shit every year. We're in on killer free agent, overpay for scrubs.

Over and over and over and ownership is happy with their football guys!

Fuck this team, do not spend another dollar or go to any games until these assholes understand THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

Maybe I did I just learned we signed AD so I'm not in my right state of mind ugh.
Well, that's understandable. But I replied to a comment you made the day before the Bears signed Dalton.

They were never in on this guy it’s a load of bs to try to sell to fans that they give a shit. They have no cap space, no qb to protect, no chance.

gee gollygarsh guys we tried here’s Andy dalton and probably release hicks to pay for him. Not to mention I’m to dumb to care about the 5th rounder this costs as well.

Leno has value. Guy hasn't missed a start and is on a tradeable contract. Bears can get a 5th-6th round for him
How about the tapes where we see Leno on ground being manhandled? I know Leno played better in last six games, but he hit rock bottom. Only place to go is up.

Lol I do wonder if Williams was interested if it was Wilson, then saw Dalton and was like no I'm good
Trent Williams doesn't give a shit who the quarterback is, he wants money. What happened was the Bears committed $10,000,000 to Andy Dalton and now can't compete for actual impact free agents because there's no money left over. This is going to start to unravel here when Bears fans realize all you're getting in terms of roster improvements is another backup quarterback.
